Just your average AN-12 going off leaving its trail of good health ? Must have been a slow news day in the local rag! Must admit that I have not bought a copy of this paper in years. Don't think I am missing anything to be fair.

Totally agree Jenny. Would not mind seeing one of the old 707's with water belting through the engines to make it a real "smoker". Spotting at the Airport now is just a case of "oh another 737 / A320 / Embraer". Even the Turkish A330 didn't show up today!

Oh for the days of the diversions or quality charters coming into BHX. Yes we didn't have the internet but there was always someone standing on the steps at the old terminal who had a rough idea that "something interesting is on its way in".

Got it and thank you. Typically negative but understandable since people are desensitized to the older types or never go near military bases. Journalists tend to gravitate towards hysteria because honest reporting is tedious and goes unrewarded.

Most here know I despair at the constant flow of the modern Boeing and Airbus types with the rare visits of B747 and A340 or a military transport. I can imagine being on the golf course and miss the arrival of a A320neo because they are so discreet.

The Evening Mail as it was used to be a great paper and was often set as part of homework at school as it was a trusted source of information. I no longer read or purchase newspapers but do read specialist journals linked to the Law or Aviation.

But we seem to be drifting for which I plead guilty!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
