Does anyone know what the latest is with T1 post full T2 opening? I’ve read demolished, partially used and mothballed (which is pretty ambiguous). I’m hoping the monstrosity that is T1 multi-storey will go as it is bloody awful to use and look at, but I have a feeling it is going to stay and just continue to look horrendous. Any update would be appreciated 😀

As promised, some TP photos from last week:

Stairs and hopefully a few escalators:

More TP:

Currently stranded gate bridge :

An attempt to show the length of pier 2. Standing at the end of pier 1 it’s doesn’t appear to be that much longer.

Pier 2 with bracing beams suggesting this will be the end:

The stairs lifts thing (vertical circulation structure I believe to be posh):

Legacy arrivals landside:

Also of note it appears the service yard at the south east end of the legacy building is being used for works access. Big hole cut in the side and roof and serviced by stairs and goods lifts in a lot of scaffolding.

Legacy airside arrivals corridor works:

Manchester, why did you go cheap and not give us travelators? Big sigh:

I notice from one of your photos taken from the end of Pier A/1 that there are two A380s in. One on the usual stand 12 the other on what appears to be stand 82. Is that possible

Probably taken on one of the days when one of the A380s went tech and was on the ground for a few days whilst being attended to my engineers.

I assumed that would be the case but didn't think stand 82 could be used for an A380.

I was thinking this separate structure maybe the bridge from terminal to pier which will be moved into place later. This could avoid too much disruption to roadway/bussing operation.
In hindsight (again) I think you’re right. It matches the bridge on the CGI 👋

Now only if we had a picture.
The airport don't seem too keen to keep us updated.
For phase 1 there were updates galore from numerous sources which for people like me remote from the action is a god send

Indeed it's a shame that the airport has stopped making their updates public - nit just for MANTP but all airfield projects.

This one is from today from Peter Greenwood of the bridge in question (again it seems windows are optional) :

Once bridge installation is complete a new walking route for departures 201-209 will open.
Maybe I am being daft but how can the installation of the bridge from what is effectively the bussing gates over the road to the start of the new pier affect the walking route to gates 201-209. Are we per chance talking about the VCC

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
