With Pier 2 not ready until end of May (?) they have to be on a bussed stand I’d have thought.

Yes, I imagine the domestic ATR’s of Aer Lingus, Loganair and Aurigny will be anyway (and Embraer included for Loganair).

There will be 6 new narrowbody stands between pier C and pier 2 according to the diagram on instagram.

Anyone able to get a screenshot of diagram from Instagram?

I attended - well I watched via Teams - the MACC meeting today and, to be honest, I was disappointed due to the lack of new information that became available.

Firstly there was no news with regards to airlines switching terminals and nothing about where the domestic flights will be operating from in T2.

Again, whilst mention was made on the translators now working for the full length of the Skylink from the Travel Interchange to T2, there is no definite information news on those serving T1. Chris Woodroofe did say that there is a strong rational for their replacement, however he can make no promise at this stage as to whether this will happen.

There was a presentation on the MANTP project but, to be honest nothing was revealed that we, on this forum, are not already aware of.

Please remember that the MACC meetings are open to the public and that you are welcome to attend - although, as I have said on previous occasions, you would only be there as an observer and are not allowed to ask questions. More details of the MACC are available via the following link:

The next meeting is scheduled for 25th April.

Domestic/CTA flights to be handled in Pier 1 and via coaching (A&B gates). Biometrics for arrivals have been installed already to the left of the UK Border. Aurigny are the first to move over in February, shortly followed by Aer Lingus & BA.

Stands 301-308 (formally 201-208) are to be re-numbered on the night of 20th March with the former stand 205 (305) to be re-opened in early April. This stand does not have an airbridge (was removed back in 2017). Stands will remain in MARS configuration so for example 204L will become 304L. Within the terminal these gates will become D1-D8.

The Original baggage reclaim is planned to reopen in early April along with check in Zone B.

East Security fit out is mostly completed now and most retail units have been handed over for fit-out.

Thanks as always @CCGE29

For anyone in the know, presumably the biometric gates for domestics read driving licences as well as passports? Not used to non segregated arrivals !

Biometric gates don’t require ID.

Only a few remote wide body stands left! Any indication where new ones will be located? Where on earth will cargo flights be handled?
Cargo (Indeed EK to return in S25) can still be handled on stand 80/81. Stand 61 also to remain post the TP so will also be available for cargo.

Cargo facilities are moving from building 300/301 as previously advised. Dnata have been in their new building for a couple of years now and Swissport will re-locate in the summer (The shed being built adjacent to Dnata now). FedEx also plan to leave in the spring to a site off Sunbank Lane.

West Gate works have begun to move the security access point back - this will allow for 3 code C stands in its place.

by biometric gates, i understand the plan is to capture biometrics for CTA flights arriving, allow them to mix with international arrivals, then at the border those with biometrics can avoid immigration and redo the biometrics so they are identified as arrivals not needing passport control.

by biometrics it means like they are in T3 atm for domestic flights, so a picture of your face captured at security which can be matched again on entry to the pier for 142/143 gates. so it doesn't require ID. it will effectively be the same except here you do it for everyone arriving and then match up at passport control. (edit: many years ago they used to give DUB arrivals in to LGW a card, you mixed with all int arrivals, and then you handed it in at passport control to identify yourself as a CTA arrival where you were allowed to then bypass immigration, this is effectively a more sophisticated version of that).

what i think is confused is what the process will apply to? all CTA/UK arrivals? or CTA arrivals (DUB/ JER/GCI etc.) but not UK arrivals as they will be segregated on arrival?

and if the latter, is there an internal UK arrivals segregated route or will UK arrivals always be bussed to the baggage hall to bypass immigration? i know the video linked earlier says UK arrivals will use jetbridges but that just means you can load passengers on via them and doesn't make clear whether arrivals will be decanted down to the apron and on a bus instead.

There are two widebody remote stands on pier 1. There will be 6 new remote stands in between pier C and the C gates, which two of these will be widebody capable (I think one of these is stand 80 today so usually where the EK cargo flight will park).

I count 17 widebody stands in total across the two piers, legacy T2 and the new remote stands. It will be inevitable that some aircraft will have to park on remote stands and passengers will be bussed, this happens at many other major international airports.

Let’s hope this is kept to a minimum. Being a brand new design and all that.

Anyone say pier 3?

Real shame new facilities include bussing out to remote stands. Quite simply, still not enough contacted airbridged stands to attract new carriers. Imagine if US carriers interested again, or more SE Asian carriers, offered remote bussed stands!! Even built Pier 3, only be a small net gain in stands, if lost T2 legacy stands and satalliate on Pier C

I don`t really see the problem to be honest just think how many aircraft don`t need the bridges

What’s happening with stand 202 is the Jet2 shed not moving. Was just thinking that’s another gate not being used to it’s full potential

Stand 202 is in use, always has been.
The Jet2 shed is closest to stand 208 which I believe is also in use, not sure if that’s being demolished or handed over to another company…

The jet shed (old temporary bussing lounge) stands in the way of new gate 301 or 303. The one with the node that’s been stood there for a few years attached to the new pier stub. Adjacent to old 211.

I believe MAN have said nothings happening with it short term but it’s a relatively easy extra gate to bring to use. There was some hope it would happen with pier 2s opening.

Try looking at these screenshots taken from the NATS pages.

You will notice reference in the Notam that work on taxiway Charlie is delayed until March and, if you look at the chart for the airport taxiways, you will see that the new parallel taxiway between Piers B & C is currently shown as disused.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
