Thanks @marni1971 for the post of updates.

From the description ref security east, I don’t know whether to read that both security areas will be integrated as one area? Or will they be separate?

Progress is looking good anyway and as expected, some areas are more advanced than others, so if all goes to plan, in just over two months time we should start to see the phased opening…

So far as I’m aware the two security areas are separate, although the text does suggest otherwise. They were originally billed as independent with the ability to close one if not needed. East will also have its own stairs/lift/escalators up to the new legacy side shops.

I’m thinking a good barometer of the legacy shopping level opening is when the new landside tower that’s being stuck on the side of the legacy check in area is complete, since I’m certain that’s the back of house loading access for the new shops and kitchens.

I’ve also been thinking (unashamedly geeky) a possible indication of the current thinking for pier 3 could be how much the legacy gates are tarted up. MAN wouldn’t spend a fortune if these gates would be removed in a few years time.

We’re using T2 a few times this year; hopefully I can report on progress of developments plus the finished article.

I'm told from a fairly reliable source in TAS Pier 3 will be constructed, probably not to circa 2030. Alot rides on expansion of long haul market? Maybe MCR will becomes more of a low cost, holiday jet airport. Unlikely US or SE Asian airlines markets will introduce any significant new routes in next 5 years or so.....although has been rumours of Qantas possibly coming back!?

Trumpington I cannot see MAN becoming more of a LCC airport as they want more Long Haul

indeed Mullion https://www.visitbritain.org/news-a...es/visitbritain-awards-gateway-fund-inspire-0

"VisitBritain CEO Patricia Yates said:

“This important fund supports destinations to work in partnership with industry to showcase the very best of their region to international visitors across some of our most valuable inbound markets, shining the spotlight on our fantastic tourism offer and driving bookings.

“It also highlights how easy it is for international visitors to travel through our regional gateways, encouraging them to explore further, spreading visitor spending across the nations and regions and boosting local economies.”

interesting that the partnership is with Aer Lingus and not Virgin. Using the Irish know-how to stimulate demand as they have for the ramp-up over recent years out of DUB to the States

Not seen anything on social media ref the legacy departure gates, are these still being refurbished at the moment?

I’m using T2 in April for the first time in about 2 years so I’m hoping some of pier 2 and the legacy T2 is open by then 🤞

They’ve added new toilets in the same style the as the ones on pier 1 but the travelators are worryingly still behind a wooden wall. Hopefully being replaced. There was a definite change in flooring level between the new toilets and the existing pier floor with a temporary looking filler, as if the legacy floor will be replaced. But as of September the rest of it looked very much like it did.

I’m hoping you’ll see some new bits open in April but fear you’ll be a little early. There again I remember we landed at CDG 2E Hall F the day it opened; it was usable but I wouldn’t have called it finished!

Currently sat in our sister airport, Stansted.
In the Wetherspoons admiring the view of the apron and departure/arrivals.
Where is this going to be located in T2? And if there will be windows, which direction are they facing?

Be careful what you wish for. The LCC's provide the vast bulk of the growth we see at MAN. We all need to show more respect and appreciation for that. It's a good thing. The correct path is to pitch for new long-haul as well as for additional LCC capacity. The two are not mutually exclusive. Maximise all opportunities, and let the split of passenger throughput between market segments fall as it will. Facilitate ALL incremental business and let the market decide.

Came across this little detail whilst googling

I think T2 legacy will be fully open for May fit out of security and pier 2 is well underway. Retail will take a bit longer given all the different brands with it begin such a vast space. Will be interning to see what airlines move back into the legacy check in hall once completed. I know that TUI used Zone A originally, don't think MAG are sticking with the check in island design for the legacy check in zones. I actually like it as when I few with Virgin they had all their desk next to security so it was a shorter walk.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
