OAN 035/2020 – TERMINAL 1 CONSOLIDATION
OAN REF:- 035/2020 DATE OF ISSUE:- 24/03/20 EFFECTIVE DATE:- 25/03/20 EXPIRY DATE:- Until further notice
1.0 BACKGROUND
• Like all airports across the world, Manchester Airport has experienced a significant fall in passenger volumes as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic
• Given the reduction in departing and arriving flights, and the likelihood traffic will decline further, we have taken the decision to work towards operating from a single terminal
• This will happen at 00.01 Wednesday 25th March and all flights that were due to depart from Terminal Two (T2) and Terminal Three (T3), will now do so from Terminal One
• This will allow us to run a more streamlined and efficient operation whilst we experience a decrease in passenger numbers
• We have chosen Terminal One as it can sufficiently handle our projected capacity for the coming weeks in terms of stand availability and terminal capacity
2.0 OVERVIEW
2.1 Terminal One (T1) will operate as is today with a few exceptions highlighted below:
2.2 Check-in Passengers will check in on Level 5 of T1, at Departures A. Check-in desk allocation will be produced on a daily basis and sent to the usual check-in distribution lists by 16.00 the day prior by the Customer Liaison Manager (CLM).
2.3 Ticket Desks Airlines moving from T2 / T3 will use their ground handlers ticket desk unless told otherwise.
2.4 Security All passengers will be processed through ‘Security A’ in Departures A of T1.
2.5 Staff Security Security access for colleagues will be available through the T1 service yard and ‘Security A, Departures A of T1. Colleagues should access Security A via the special assistance channel on the left of the hall, next to Check-in desk 1 (and not main security – this is for passengers only).
2.6 Airfield Security As of 21.00 on Wednesday 25th March, North Gate will close, leaving West Gate as the only airfield security access point.
2.7 Domestic departures Domestic passengers will depart from Gates 16-19 (along the Southern Front and the former Gates 1 and 3) which will be accessed via a new passenger route from the T1 Departure lounge which will be signposted by the side of the lounges. Gate 1 will be renamed 19A and Gate 3 will be renamed Gates 19 B and C. (Stand 5 is shut due to existing project works).
2.8 Domestic arrivals Domestic arrivals will be routed through Southern front and follow the usual T3 domestic arrival journey. Passengers will then be routed around to T1 for pick up / onward travel.
2.9 CTA arrivals For any flight arriving from a CTA location (Channel Islands, IOM, ROI), passengers will be bussed to the CTA channel, adjacent to carousel 6 in T1 baggage reclaim.
2.10 Transfers Transfer passengers and their baggage will be required to ‘land’ at Manchester and clear immigration and collect their luggage before connecting to their onward flight.

OAN 033-2020 – MAN TP TERMINAL 2 HYDRANT WORKS
OAN REF:- 033/2020 DATE OF ISSUE:- 19/03/20 EFFECTIVE DATE:- 07/04/2020 EXPIRY DATE:- 09/04/2019
This OAN replaces OAN 026-2020 with immediate effect. Changes relate to programme dates.
1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 A two-night shutdown of the Terminal 2 (T2) fuel hydrant system to carry out commissioning works for the new Zulu remote hydrant system and, concurrently, to reinstate the hydrant feeding Stands 72-74. The change of dates is due to a delay in enabling civils works.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The works will take place on the nights of Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th April 2020 with Thursday 9th retained as a contingency night. 2.2 Nominally, the working hours will be 18:00L to 06:00L.
2.3 The T2 fuel hydrant shutdowns will take place from 21:00L-05:00L.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 Work will take place in Valve Chamber 17 (VC17) on Stand 104, VC 19 in the equipment area next to Stand 101 and VC 8 on Stand 72.
3.2 The basic scope of work will involve the de-isolation of the Valve chambers to facilitate the energisation of the fuel hydrant system serving the new Zulu remote stands.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Hydrant fuelling for aircraft will not be available on Stands 66-74 and all T2 pier served and remote stands from 21:00 to 05:00L each night. The shutdown will commence after all aircraft on T2, that require fuel, have been fuelled. If a scheduled departure is delayed, MASHCo can delay the shutdown by up to 30 minutes to facilitate the fuelling.
4.2 Terminal 2 aircraft arriving after the fuel shut down and requiring fuel may be parked on remote Stands 63-65 where fuel will remain available.
4.3 Stand 104 will not be available for aircraft parking on Tuesday 7th April 2020 between the hours of 18:00L and 05:00L.
4.4 On Wednesday 8th April, Airfield Operations will ensure that no equipment is parked on, or blocking access to, VC19 located in the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) area next to Stand 101. The clearway between Stand 101 and the GSE area will not available 18:00-05:00 due to MASHCo vehicles requiring access to the valve chamber.
4.5 Stand 72 remains within the GallifordTry compound. Access to VC8 will not create any operational implications

At the present moment in time the new remote stands are still not in use.

Surprising, though I wonder if that will change once the forecast Virgin 330s show up. Presumably that will trigger a reshuffle as I’m guessing those new stands won’t take 330s?

I think there was a small change on the VS B747 today as I think 1 more was put onto a T2 stand 112?

Operating hours change effective 20th June - 31st July

Are the new north remote stands complete and available now?

Photo taken from SSC shows 6 VS B744 on the ground and must therefore be fairly recent. You'll see that construction seems to have finished on the 900s but as yet I can see no markings etc - I'll let you therefore make your own judgement.

I am advised that we should shortly be starting to see OANs published on the airport website - it's not that nothing has been happening, rather that with the lockdown there has been nobody available to update the public information.

Additionally I am led to believe that the new stands in the 900-series will become operational within approximately the next 6 weeks.

Thanks for the update.

I have been checking the OANs from time to time but nothing new for sometime.

I did notice on one of the recent aerial photos that it did show markings for stands 901-909 but not for any others. Mind you the patch work quilt doesn't make viewing markings easy.

The following NOTAM has recently been published:

Q) EGTT/QMXXX/IV/M/A/000/999/5321N00217W005
B) FROM: 20/07/08 17:00C) TO: 20/10/05 17:00
E) TAXIWAY ZULU WILL REMAIN A SINGLE YELLOW PAINTED CENTRELINE,
DESIGNATED AS ZULU

It would appear therefore that the new stands might not be introduced into service until October, rather than August as I was led to believe. Any further information will be provided as and when available.

Thanks for the info @Scottie Dog

Any news/updates on the other works in progress across the airfield, specifically the new taxiway system next to the hangers?

Nothing further at present. Like you I am eagerly awaiting updates and will share with you anything that I do receive.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
