1.0 Overall, a programme of circa ten weeks’ work to install an aircraft fuel hydrant system cathodic protection ground bed underneath a section of pavement on Taxiway Echo. Whilst work is in progress multiple stand closures and the use of several non‐standard aircraft pushback manoeuvres will be required due to restricted taxiway capability in the vicinity of the work area. The aircraft fuel hydrant system will remain active throughout.
2.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
2.1 SUMMARY The overall scope of work will be as follows:
 Breakout required areas of taxiway and apron pavement.
 Installation of 1 x aircraft fuel hydrant system cathodic protection ground bed measuring approximately 30 x 2.5m.
 Attachment of new CP lug to existing pipework on Stand 71.
 Installation of new cable chases.
 Laying of new PQ concrete.
 Curing of newly laid PQ concrete.
 Pavement joint sealing.
2.2 There will be two areas of work, the first area being located on Taxiway Echo with a fenced work area (40 x 40m) being erected within the taxiway strip abeam Stand 82.
2.3 A second fenced work area will also be erected on Stand 71.
2.4 At various times during the overall works programme there will be a requirement for the contractor to carry out work outside of the demarked work areas. Such work will be managed tactically to avoid further operational disruption.
3.0 PROGRAMME
3.1 Overall, the work will commence on Tuesday 4th May and will be completed by Tuesday 6th July 2021.
3.2 The work will take place during daytime hours, nominally 08:00 ‐ 17:00L.
3.3 The phasing of works activities will take place as follows:
• Tuesday 4th May – Thursday 1st July ‐ Work will be located on Taxiway Echo.
• Friday 21st May – Tuesday 6th July ‐ Work will also be located on Stand 71.
N.B: There may be a slight variation in the above dates in the event of poor weather restricting overall works progress.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Taxiways
4.1.1 From Tuesday 4 th May until Thursday 1 st July, Taxiway Echo will be closed H24 abeam Stand 82 and a fenced work area will be erected. Aircraft will still be permitted to use the taxiway however it will operate as a ‘double cul‐de‐sac’ and there will not be a through‐route past Stand 82.
4.2 Aircraft Stands
4.2.1Whilst work is in progress on Taxiway Echo, the following stands will be closed H24:
 68 (C & R), 69 (L & C), 70C, 71C, 80 (all centrelines), 82 (all centrelines), 83C, 84C & 231 (all centrelines).
4.2.2 Additionally, Stand 71R will be closed H24 from Friday 21st May until Tuesday 6 th July. Stand 71L will be available for the duration of the works.
4.2.3 Whilst work is in progress on Taxiway Echo Stands 69, 70, 71, 83 and 84 will be restricted to maximum aircraft size of ICAO Code C (B737/A321).
4.3 Aircraft Pushback Manoeuvres
4.3.1 For the duration of the works programme, various non‐standard aircraft pushback manoeuvres will be required due to the lack of a through‐route for aircraft on Taxiway Echo.
4.3.2All non‐standard pushback manoeuvres are to be carried out as directed by ATC.
5.0 LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)
5.1 The work will have no effect on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.
6.0 WORK AREA DEMARCATION
6.1 The work areas will be demarked by full height heras fencing, mounted on alternate red/white base boards. The southern boundaries of the work area located on Taxiway Echo will be demarked by mobile blast screens.
6.1.1 The entirety of both work area perimeters will be lit H24 by low intensity, steady red obstacle lighting.
6.2 Portions of taxiway centreline lighting leading to/through the closed portion of Taxiway Echo will be disabled.

by Friday 7th May 2021.

2.2 The daily working hours will be 08:30-17:00L.

3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS

3.1 The scope of work will include:

• Installation checks,

• System calibration,

• Set up and configuration,

• Function tests,

• Verification of STOP position information.

3.2 The upgrades will be carried out on all Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 Pier served stands. 4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS

4.1 During the working times, listed at paragraph 2.2, a series of stand closures will be required. These will be agreed each morning in consultation with Airfield Control and the Airfield Duty Manager (ADM) and will take advantage of natural gaps occurring on stands throughout the daily schedule to limit any operational impact.

OPERATIONAL ADVICE NOTICE (OAN)

4.2 Safe access to head of stand offices will be maintained throughout the programme.
4.3 All affected stands will be fully operational outside of the daily working times.

5.0 WORK AREA DEMARCATION

5.1 The work site will be coned to provide a safe working area.

1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 An additional programme of up to four weeks’ work to complete the removal of multiple portacabins
located adjacent to the head of stand road abeam Stand 72. The work will involve disconnecting utilities
and internal strip-out prior to the cabins being loaded by crane onto transport wagons and removed
from site.

2.0 PROGRAMME

2.1 The overall programme of work commenced on Monday 15th February and is now scheduled to be
completed by Friday 21st May 2021.

2.2 Towards the end of the overall programme of works, a crane will be operating airside for four days to lift
the cabins onto transport wagons.

2.3 The crane operation will be weather dependent and will not be able to operate during periods of strong
winds.

2.4 All work will take place Monday to Friday, during daylight hours.

3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS

3.1 The scope of work will entail the following tasks:

• Disconnection of all utilities serving the cabins.

• Dis-assembly of external stairs.

• Crane operation to load the cabins and stair assemblies onto transport vehicles for removal from site.

3.2 All work will be located within a fenced compound in the immediate vicinity of the cabins, adjacent to the apron road system abeam the head of Stand 72.

OPERATIONAL ADVICE NOTICE (OAN)

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 The portion of apron road abeam the head of Stand 72 will be temporarily reduced to one operational lane whilst the crane is operating on site (four days towards the end of the overall works programme).

4.1.1 Traffic management measures will be in place to ensure safe two-way vehicle transit past the crane.

4.2 Whilst the fenced works compound is in-situ, vehicular access to the adjacent de-icing fluid tanks will be retained at all times.

4.3 To facilitate airfield access/ egress for large transport vehicles and the crane, it may be necessary to route them via the Western Maintenance Area (Fairey’s Apron).

4.4 Overall, no significant operational disruption is anticipated as a result of this work.

5.0 WORKS AREA DEMARCATION

5.1 The work area will be demarked by full height heras fencing, mounted on alternate red/white base
blocks.

4.2 Aircraft Stands
4.2.1 Whilst work is in progress on Taxiway November-Charlie, the following stands (all centrelines) will be closed H24:
• 80, 210, 231,237 and 241.
4.3 Aircraft Pushback Manoeuvres
4.3.1 Dependent on the area of work in progress, various non-standard aircraft pushback manoeuvres will be required due to the lack of a through-route for aircraft on Taxiway November-Charlie.

In addition, the Terminal 3 (T3) carousels are being reassigned as T1 assets. As a result, it is necessary to change the numbering of the T3 carousels, so that they do not conflict with existing T1 carousel numbers.

2.1 Overall, the work to carry out the changes will commence on Monday 14th June and will be completed by the morning of Wednesday 16th June 2021. 2.2 The phasing of works activities will take place as follows:

So an aircraft taxis to stand 1 but it’s gate 35 within the terminal…that doesn’t make logical sense to me, maybe this is quite normal though…??

How many carousels are there in T1 now? The newly designated T3 carousels start at 11…I’m just confused but again might be just me 😉

Honestly it is so long since I flew that I'm uncertain as to the effect. However, from speaking to a friend they say that it makes sense, if you assume that T3 may not reopen for some time. On that basis I believe that the airport is trying to make signage easier for passengers as, at present gates 16, 17 and 18 are out of sequence from the main gates.

Hopefully somebody else can enlighten you further.

2.1 Work will take place on the nights of Tuesday 6th to Thursday 8th July 2021, inclusive.
2.2 The planned nightly working hours will be 22:30 – 06:00L.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 Overall, the scope of work will involve the following tasks:

 Multiple asphalt pavement repairs on Taxiway Alpha, in the vicinity of Intermediate Holding
Point (IHP) A3.

 Multiple areas of over‐banding along Taxiway Alpha between Link Alpha‐Golf and its junction

 7 x asphalt patch repairs on Runway 05L‐23R between Links Hotel and Juliet.
 Maxi‐crete repairs in the vicinity of RHP A1.

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Runway Operations
4.1.1 During the Runway 05L‐23R closure period (22:30‐06:00L) all flight operations will take place on Runway
05R‐23L.

4.2 Taxiway Restrictions
4.2.1 Taxiway Alpha, between IHP A2 and its junction with Taxiway Bravo will be closed on the nights of
Tuesday 6th to Thursday 8th June, inclusive.
4.2.2 Likewise, Taxiway Bravo will be closed on the aforementioned nights from IHP B2 to its junction with
Taxiway Alpha.
5.0 LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS (LVO)
5.1 In the event of forecast low visibility, the planned work will be cancelled and Runway 05L‐23R will remain
open.
5.2 In the event of un‐forecast reduced visibility conditions (meeting the criteria for LVP Alert) during the
Runway 05L‐23R closure period when work has begun, the aerodrome will close to flight operations
whilst the runway is recovered. An ‘AD Closed’ NOTAM will be issued in such circumstances.

OAN 028/2021 – BAGGAGE TOWING RESTRICTION - TRIAL.

1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 Concerns over the length of towed baggage trains has been raised during routine observation and
externally by Ground Handling Agents. This specifically relates to Terminal 2 facilities.
Research into industry practice shows train length restrictions between <10m (LHR) and circa 15m (STN).
At MAN, we often see baggage trains in excess of 21m in busy operational environments with other
vehicles/pedestrian interactions.

2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 An initial trial is to take place over a 4 week period commencing 15/07/2021. This will introduce a
restriction to the maximum length of towed baggage trains within the Terminal 2 Baggage facility.

3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The maximum towing limit within Terminal 2 Baggage Halls will be no more than 2x LD8 Trailers or 3x
other baggage trailer sizes.
3.2 Relevant to Terminal 2 Baggage Hall Operations only
3.3 The stated trial duration and scope may be altered within the validity period depending upon feedback
and outputs.
3.4 The extent of this trial does not include Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 Baggage operations although these
facilities will be reviewed.
3.5 The overall objective of the trial will be to determine the most appropriate mix of equipment for
operating within the MAN Baggage Hall environment.
3.6 Trial observations, feedback and adjustments will be managed by Airfield Safety & Compliance. Any

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 No more than a maximum towed limit of 2x LD8 trailers or 3x other types to be permitted within the
Terminal 2 Baggage Halls areas.

4.2 Where loads are required to be un-coupled or hold, a staging area has been made available as an interim
measure between the East and West bag hall arrivals entrance. This area will be managed by Airside
Operations.

Inbound baggage carousel 1-4 should be accessed via old East entrance
Inbound baggage carousel 5-8 should be accessed via new West entrance

5.0 WORKS AREA DEMARCATION
5.1 This Trial is limited to Terminal 2 Baggage Hall facilities only. No additional works demarcation required.

6.0 LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES

OAN 033/2021 ADVANCED VISUAL DOCKING GUIDANCE SYSTEM (AVDGS) UPGRADES. OAN REF:‐ 033/2021 DATE OF ISSUE:‐ 20/08/2021 EFFECTIVE DATE:‐ 30/08/2021 EXPIRY DATE:‐ 10/09/2021

1.0 SUMMARY
A two‐week continuation of the programme of work to carry out upgrades to the Advanced Visual Docking Guidance Systems across all three terminals and remote stands.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The overall programme of work will commence on the Monday 30th August and will be completed by Friday 10th September 2021.
2.2 The daily working hours will be 08:30‐17:00L.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The scope of work will entail:
 Installation checks.
 System calibration.
 Set up and configuration.
 Function tests.
 Verification of aircraft STOP position information.
3.2 The continued AVDGS upgrades will be carried out on the following stands:
 Terminal 1: 2, 7 and 9.
 Terminal 2: 107, 110, 208L, 208, 209, 807R, 809, 811, 925 and 927.
 Terminal 3: 41, 43, 47, 49 and 51 – 55R.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 During the daily working times listed at paragraph 2.2, a series of stand closures will be required. The closures will be agreed each morning in consultation with Airfield Control and the Airfield Duty Manager (ADM).
4.1.1 To limit any operational impact, as far as possible, the stand closures will be coordinated to take advantage of time windows throughout the working day when stands are scheduled to be vacant. However, in some instances there may be a requirement for aircraft towing in order to achieve a vacant stand.
4.2 Safe access to head of stand accommodation will be maintained throughout the programme of work.
4.3 All affected stands will be fully operational outside of the daily working times.
5.0 WORK AREA DEMARCATION
5.1 Work sites on each stand will be demarked by reflective cones.
6.0 LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)
6.1 Overall, the work has no impact on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.


034/2021 – T2 SWISSPORT DE-ICING TANK REPLACEMENT

1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 A five-day programme of works to remove an existing bunded de-Icing fluid storage tank at the head of Stand 201 and replace it with a new one in the same location.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The overall programme of work will commence on Monday 13th September and be completed by Friday 17th September 2021.
2.2 Daily working hours will be 0730 – 1800 local.
2.3 The crane operations will take place on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th September 2021.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 Overall, the scope of work will involve the following tasks:
• Removal of existing de-icing tank.
• Dismantling and cutting up of the existing de-icing tank.
• Installation of new de-icing tank.
3.2 All work will take place on the head of stand road located directly north of Stand 201.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 The head of stand road at Stand 201 will be closed to through traffic during the working hours listed at 2.2.
4.2 Access to the airfield red diesel fuelling point and the adjacent de-icing tanks will be maintained by Swissport staff throughout the programme.
4.3 The pedestrian walkway may be obstructed when crane lifting operations are ongoing. In this case, active pedestrian management or a diverted pedestrian walkway will be provided by Swissport.
4.4 The Jet 2 Electric Baggage Tractors (EBTs) situated at the charging points at the head of Stand 201 will be relocated towards the rear of the stand during the crane operations; listed at paragraph 2.3.
4.5 Stand 201 will be closed between the hours of 07:30 and 18:00L on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th September 2021.
4.6 A portion of Equipment Bay 201D, currently occupied by Swissport de-icing vehicles, is required to accommodate a skip for the decommissioning of the existing de-icing tank.
5.0 CONTRACTOR, MANPOWER & EQUIPMENT
5.1 Haven Engineering is the contractor carrying out the replacement on behalf of Swissport.
5.2 Manpower shall be up to a maximum of 7 operatives utilising 1x van, 2x 40t cranes, 1x low loader HGV, 2x skip HGV’s and 1x Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP).
6.0 LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)
6.1 Overall, the work has no impact on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.
6.2 Work may continue during periods of low visibility at the discretion of the Airfield Duty Manager


OAN 035/2021 RUNWAY 05R-23L MAINTENANCE REPAIRS AND SURVEY.

1.1 To facilitate the final commissioning of electrical transformers serving the MASHCo Fuel Farm, there will
be a requirement for a temporary night‐time shutdown (circa 1 hour) of the aircraft fuel hydrant system.
The timing of the shutdown will be coordinated to avoid any operational disruption.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The work will be carried out between 01:00 and 02:00L on the morning of Friday 17th September 2021.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The scope of work will be the final commissioning of electrical transformers located at the MASHCo Fuel
Farm.
3.2 All work will take place within the MASHCo Fuel Farm.

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 The aircraft fuel hydrant system shutdown will take place between the hours of 01:00 and 02:00L on the
morning of Friday 17th September 2021.
4.2 The aircraft fuel hydrant system shutdown will affect all hydrant served stands on the airfield.
4.3 The work has been coordinated to avoid operational disruption, and therefore, will not commence until
the final aircraft departure (prior to first wave) requiring hydrant fuelling has been served. In the event
of the final aircraft departure being delayed, the start of work will also be delayed, as required.
4.4 Outside of the above times, the aircraft fuel hydrant system will be operating as normal.

5.0 LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS (LVO)
5.1 Overall, the work will have no effect on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.

2.1 The work will be carried out between 01:00 and 04:00L on the mornings of Thursday 9th and Friday 10th
September 2021.

3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The scope of work will be servicing of the incoming electrical mains supply equipment within the fuel
farm switch rooms.
3.1.1 The work described in this OAN is enabling work, prior to that described in OAN 036/2021.
3.2 All work will take place within the MASHCo Fuel Farm.

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 The portion of the aircraft fuel hydrant system serving Terminals 1 and 3 will be shut down between the
hours of 01:00L and 04:00L on the morning of Thursday 9th September.
4.2 The portion of the aircraft fuel hydrant system serving Terminal 2 and the western remote apron will be
shut down between the hours of 01:00 and 04:00L on the morning of Friday 10th September
4.3 The work has been coordinated to avoid operational disruption, and therefore, will not commence until
the final aircraft departure (prior to first wave) requiring hydrant fuelling from the nightly affected
portion of the aircraft fuel hydrant system has been served. In the event of the final aircraft departure
being delayed, the start of work will also be delayed, as required.
4.4 Outside of the aforementioned times, the aircraft fuel hydrant system will be operating as normal.

5.0 LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS (LVO)
5.1 Overall, the work will have no effect on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.

OAN 038/2021- TERMINAL 2 BAGGAGE SYSTEM UPGRADE STORAGE COMPOUNDS (MAN-TP PP40).

1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 To facilitate upgrade works on the Terminal 2 baggage system, there will be a requirement for three material storage compounds to be erected on the Terminal 2 apron. The compounds will be located on Stands 207 and 211 and the head of stand road abeam Stand 206. Stands 207 and 211 will be closed H24 whilst the compounds are in‐situ.

2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 Work to erect the storage compounds will commence on Monday 11th October 2021.
2.2 The three compounds will be in‐situ as follows:

3.1 The scope of work will be the erection of three, temporary materials storage compounds on Terminal 2 on Stands 207, 211 and the head of stand road abeam Stand 206.
3.2 Whilst the compounds are in‐situ there will be an ongoing requirement for vehicular airfield access and egress whilst materials are delivered to and removed from site.

4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Stand 207 will be closed H24 from Monday 18th October 2021 until Wednesday 31st August 2022. N.B: The storage compound demarcation will be positioned such that Stands 208 and 208L remain open.
4.2 Stand 211 will be closed H24 from Monday 11th October 2021 until Friday 25th March 2022.
4.3 At various times during the overall programme of works there will be a requirement for short‐term closures of portions of the Terminal 2 head of stand road abeam the materials storage compounds to facilitate transfer of materials to/from the terminal building. Such closures will be no longer than ten minutes each time.
4.4 Whilst the compound is in‐situ on the Terminal 2 head of stand road abeam Stand 206, the available road width will be temporarily reduced. Vehicle drivers must proceed with caution when transiting past the compound.
4.4.1 The pedestrian route adjacent to the compound on the head of stand road will remain open at all times.

5.0 LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS (LVO)
5.1 Overall, the work will have no effect on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.
5.2 All vehicular movements to/from the compounds will be via the apron road system and will be permitted to continue during periods of low visibility.

OAN 040/2021 – HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE – SUBSTATION G, TERMINAL 3.

1.0 SUMMARY
On Wednesday 3rd November essential high voltage electrical maintenance work will take place within Substation G serving Terminal 3. The work will require 2x temporary electrical shutdowns of up to 30 minutes duration each. Some apron infrastructure such as Fixed Electrical Ground Power (FEGP), airbridges, and high mast lighting will be temporarily unavailable during the shutdown times.
2.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
2.1 The scope of work will be essential high voltage electrical maintenance work and a temporary switching of the electrical supply onto a generator whilst work is in progress, and back to mains supply upon completion of work.
2.2 All work will be located within Substation G, serving Terminal 3.
3.0 PROGRAMME
3.1 The work will take place on Wednesday 3rd November, with 2x circa 30‐minute electrical shutdowns, coordinated to avoid any operational disruption, taking place as follows:
 Circa 06:00L power will be switched on to generator supply.
 Circa 17:00L power will be switched back to main supply.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Whilst the 2x temporary electrical shutdowns take place, as described above, the following apron infrastructure will be unavailable:
 FEGP units on Stands 50‐55.
 Airbridges on Stands 53‐55.
 Stand Number Identification Boards (SNIB) on Stands 50‐55.
 Advanced Surface Movement Guidance & Control System (ASMGCS) antenna ‘RU10’.
 Advanced Visual Docking Guidance (AVDGS) units on Stands 50‐55.
4.2 In advance of the temporary electrical shutdowns, any aircraft connected to and drawing power from the FEGP units on Stands 50‐55 should be disconnected from the FEGP and, if required, re‐connected to a power supply from a mobile GPU.
4.3 Outside of the 2x temporary electrical shutdown periods, all affected apron infrastructure will be operating as normal.
4.4 From Tuesday 2nd November, a generator will be positioned on the Terminal 3 Head of Stand road abeam Stand 54 and will remain in‐situ until completion of works on Wednesday 3rd November.

Stand 1 will be closed for a period of circa 18 hours to facilitate the replacement of 2 x failed concrete pavement bays.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The programme of work will commence at 12:00L on Monday 1st November, and the stand will be ready to hand back into operation by 06:00L on Tuesday 2nd November 2021.
2.2 The overall programme will consist of circa 12 hours of concrete breakout and reinstatement activities followed by a period of circa 6 hours to allow for concrete curing and work area demarcation removal.
3.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
3.1 The scope of work will be to carry out the replacement of 2 x failed concrete pavement bays on Stand 1. The bays will be replaced using PQX rapid setting concrete.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Stand 1 will be closed for a period of circa 18 hours from 12:00L on Monday 1st until 06:00L on Tuesday 2nd November 2021.
5.0 WORK AREA DEMARCATION
5.1 A lit mobile barrier will be placed at the rear of Stand 1 during the closure period.
5.2 The area immediately surrounding the pavement bay replacement works on the closed stand will be demarked by alternate red/white interlocked blocks.
5.2.2 The blocks will be lit by low intensity, red obstacle lighting.
