I worked for over 10years in hotels in Leeds city centre, usually on the front desk. We often got complaints about noise coming from outside the hotel. I used to love to handle these with my delicate put answer “we are a CITY CENTRE hotel, you are bound to get some noise especially at weekends” If they wanted peace and quiet go stay in the countryside.

Also just added my comments to the YEP article for what its worth as I doubt anyone at the newspaper will bother to read the comments, but we have to do something to stop all the negativity towards LBA driven by a few hundred NIMBY's. Many thousands of jobs here are at risk all for the sake of a few hundred protestors. If they don't like it they should clear off to some remote Scottish Island were they can live a peace and quiet. Oh sorry no doubt they'd then be complaining about the sheep baying through the night.
Would certainly make it easier for them to pull the wool over the eyes of the local Scottish Council!!

No doubt. I can just see it in the Highland Gazette or BBC Scotland....

'Yes there were sheep here when we moved in, but not as many as there are now. Keeping me awake. Much noisier than they used to be. I need my sleep. And then there's all that lethal methane poisoning the atmosphere too. Baa Baa. 🐑🐑🐑 Blah. Blah!'
Cat 1 sheep then, very noisy!

I think another thing that seriously needs taking into account is that we are a much more 24/7 society in this day and age. Don't get me wrong daytime is still the main/norm but more and more things continue during the night. And as is well documented what was here first - airport or residents? Should really be the end of the argument but that's just wishful thinking of course

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
