If anything, what this tells me is just how crucial these new aircraft are for the airport if this is how many can fly during night hours under the airport's interpretation of the rules (which hopefully soon won't be an issue on any side)

And as usual the BBC fake news media are all over it.
I see no false claims in the article (some anti-airport bias sure, but no falsehoods)

I am absolutely for the cause of the airport, but am in absolutely no mood for generalisation and nonsense

So, how will they who shall not be named go about providing evidence that in fact, these quieter aircraft types , which are 'not allowed' didn't land, when the airport have evidence that they did? Normally they complain about flights operating that shouldn't, but now, they need to demonstrate they didn't operate. They're in no position to prove that the council enforced a ban on these types as we know they didn't, and didn't for over 10 years.

I can see lots of boxes of kleenex needed for the clown group
On a positive note i assume this is what the airport and council have been working together on to come up with a solution that works for all

Have had a quick read through some of the documents on the planning portal, but if am
Right and am no expert on this the council could be up sh*t creek

Given that the current course of action seems to have been agreed between LCC and LBA it appears this is a war the Council wouldn’t mind losing to settle once and for all the ridiculous and outdated night flying situation both they and LBA find themselves in and get the vexatious protest and environmental groups off both their backs.

Only here could we have the farcical situation where we can have up to 4000 night movements per year but only using older, noisier and more polluting aircraft but the new, much quieter and cleaner types are banned because they are not mentioned in the 1994 planning aporoval for 24H ops. Absolutely bonkers.

And yet again, the Yeadon Councillors, are posting in a negative manner, not explaining the reality and simply painting a picture of endless night flights. They won't like the fact that the vast majority of comments are pro airport. But since when do our Councillors bother to represent the majority or their voters who work at the airport. They're a disgrace.

Lets hope so! Let's hope this time that LBAs evidence is irrefutable. If so, then the law is the law and they cannot enforce breaches of the planning approval involving the newer aircraft types.

It’s worth pointing out to anyone who says this that Newcastle has no night flying restrictions at all - neither does Glasgow or Edinburgh for that matter. Liverpool technically has restrictions but more like guidance than hard rules. The point is that none of these have flights taking off non- stop through the night. Airlines operate flights, not airports, and they will fly a schedule that makes money. They won’t operate just for the sake of it and so the schedules at places like Liverpool & Newcatle reflect the demand that can be served profitably. Anyone with a basic flight radar subscription can see this playing out everyday if they like.

EMA also has non due to obvious reasons. Let not suffocate our airport, when they're trying to open the train wreck DSA down the road at ANY cost. Its a joke. Hopefully this will come to a positive resolution for LBA/LCC. 99% of comments ive looked at on FB are positive.. says it all, its crazy a select 10 people shout so loud and cause all this.

One recent post I saw from them was along the lines of ‘why doesn’t the council just make modern aircraft lawful to operate at night and then they can be counted towards the existing quota’.

In otherwords, they want the existing rules rewriting…having spent the last few years criticising the airport for wanting the existing rules rewriting !

Let’s hope they burn all that money away. Go protest somewhere else. Suffocating the largest county in England. You can’t believe how much influence a tiny minority have. The majority support the airport. It’s clear by the comments on social media.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
