Presumably Hall A will be extended westwards and Hall B eastwards towards the new CSZ?

Could be wrong but I don't think either Check in hall is extending. Security Hall will be taking up the majority of that area.Presumably Hall A will be extended westwards and Hall B eastwards towards the new CSZ?
The former CEO told the airport support group that Hall B could handle the entire airport throughput after the baggage system was upgraded. I understand Hall A has a similar capability although the phisical space is somewhat restrictive in my opinion. Personally I believe the airport should eventually build out on the terminal front as was previously planned even if just for check-in space to replace the current check-in areas and to bring light into the building. It would of course require LCC planning consent.Sceptical about whether the current check in facilities could handle upto 7m pax.
There was a previous mention of that. You may have reported on it in a previous Consultative Committee report. It maybe that the new arrivals Duty Free has taken the space. I'll troll the plans and see if I can make out if it's included.I seem to recall Check in Hall A might be enlarged but I'm not certain. Remember it was only enlarged recently, and with its self service Check in facilities it's capacity increased. Check in Hall B isnt expanding as its housed in a seperate building to the main terminal building.
It remains on the table for a future development beyond 2030, but a lot can happen between now and then.I suspect that once the airport completes both stages of development, and it understands the throughput of existing and new carriers; then at that point it may submit plans for the new terminal. There seems little point in extending the frontage of the current terminal if ultimately it will be replaced.
Whilst that is true the refurbished terminal will have a 10 year life at least so a straight glass walled terminal extension to the front wouldn't add a significant amount of space but it would be enough space to make it feel open and ary.I suspect that once the airport completes both stages of development, and it understands the throughput of existing and new carriers; then at that point it may submit plans for the new terminal. Just checked the plans and unless they have changed again there is space for around 5 desks or bag drop points in the space created when the old CSZ is moved. This is separate from the new arrivals meet and greet area.I seem to recall Check in Hall A might be enlarged but I'm not certain. Clearly it is, as its what currently is the baggage reclaim area, the exit from which is presently close to Hall B. Post refurb, the entrance to the new CSZ will be roughly where the toilets are shown.Publish Online

When looking at page 4 showing the ground floor post refurb, the new CSZ is definitely closer to Hall B. It does not illustrate what, if anything, is filling the space between the new CSZ and Hall A
I forgot about that box of tricks. The greyed out area also contains a large electrical distribution room and another area houses the airport telephone exchange. The exchange is ancient and long over due replacement so will probably go soon. The electrical stuff includes the main connection to the outside world and switch gear for a lot of the airfield sites so probably has to stay.
The remainder of the walkway and Stand 14 cabin, over the ramp to the baggage reclaim beltsLinking what to what?
