Do we know who the new F&B outlets will be yet? I presume all the ones currently will move in?

The new extension will only contain Burger King, Tap & Brew (New high volume bar), 2 lounges (Avro & 681) and a small World Duty Free concession.

All the new concessions will be within the current building and will form part of phase 2. There are rumours going around about what this might be, but I’ll wait for the airport to officially announce these.

No more pictures? All sounds very impressive. You say the arrivals looks like a major international airport facility, did you get to see it all, including the parts that will initially be closed off or is your view on the basis of just what you could see with the three belts?

Has the flooring been done yet and is it tiled properly or is it the dredded floor vynal tiles?

Re Immigration. If I remember correctly I think it was stated it was the government Border Force responsible for passport egates and it will be up to them to install those.

Yes, the delay is down to Border Force. They were not happy with the system being used and were looking to identify a better option which would then need to be ordered and tested, so we were told 6 months ago that Border Force would be delaying installation of E gates.

The plan has always been to build a two storey pier from the eastern end of the extension down to the eastern end of the apron, with holding lounges for each stand. As it will be a permanent building, it will need a planning application and approval. No doubt this is just at a very early stage and the actual construction will be several years away.

None I've heard of. That too would likely as not need planning approval if it changes the appearance of the building. Smartening up is one thing, but changing or extending is a different matter.

The only changes to the entrance will be internally once phase 2 is complete and the new security access opens.

The airport still has ambitions to build another terminal and bring the current one to the end of its life. Should it ever get permission and become reality.

So for the record there will be a total of 3 baggage belts initially probably until the CSZ is relocated to its new home and when customs relocates. Once this happens there will be 6 belts in total, 5 for international flights and 1 domestic so the capacity for this summer won't be increased although there should be more space than in the old facility.

Leeds Bradford Airport's ambitious terminal expansion and upgrade project has been backed by a new £160m financing package.
NatWest has supported InfraBridge and LBA with funding for the LBA: REGEN project.
Led by NatWest’s Debt Advisory team, the transaction involved a comprehensive process that delivered a flexible and bespoke financing structure tailored to the airport’s evolving needs.
The package includes the refinancing of existing facilities and an upsized capital expenditure facility, enabling LBA to continue delivering its long-term growth strategy while undergoing a transformational regeneration of its terminal.

LBA, a key regional hub serving Yorkshire and the Humber, connects more than 4.3 million passengers annually to more than 80 destinations across 24 European countries.
The terminal expansion and upgrade project will increase the airport’s passenger capacity to about 6.8 million by 2030 and deliver an enhanced customer and commercial experience – transforming LBA into a more competitive asset able to capture growing demand in its catchment area.
Alex Tong, chief financial officer at Leeds Bradford Airport, said: "This refinancing transaction is a significant milestone for Leeds Bradford Airport, providing us with the financial stability and resources to continue our growth trajectory and enhance our infrastructure. We are grateful to NatWest for their support and expertise in structuring this transaction, which will undoubtedly benefit our business for years to come.”
The airport is owned by InfraBridge - a global infrastructure manager focused on mid-market opportunities across digital infrastructure, transport logistics, and energy transition.
Graeme Ferguson, head of airports at InfraBridge, added: "This milestone reflects the momentum at Leeds Bradford Airport and the confidence in its future potential. We’re pleased to partner with NatWest to help advance the next phase of the airport’s development—creating opportunity for growth, investment, and greater connectivity for the region.”

Looks like a re-hash of the original loan. What Im trying to get to is if this is additional money. Wasnt it £160m that was originally borrowed?

In a nutshell…they need more money and have refinanced it to get it finished.

I'm not sure tbh. I think the total spend in this terminal phase of work is £100m and then £100m on runway and general infrastructure works so I'm not entirely sure. The airport seem happy with the outcome so it would appear everything is in order.
