Shame about Boots if they don’t return.
The photos looked good, very open and the windows out to the apron and runway are excellent.
Being LBA let’s brace ourselves for the wave of negativity that will no doubt come via the YEP and from Spencer Stokes. He will no doubt give praise and then jab with the knife on night flights. Either that or he will have to mention his beloved closed airport down the road.
The extension is a really positive step in the evolution and regeneration of LBA, I just hope people get onboard with the changes (literally from LBA)😀

Is it because they can no longer operate there during phase 2 or are there other reasons?
The ‘rumour’ I have heard from the Boots staff is that the rent cost will go up as part of Phase 2 and Boots were unwilling to pay the extra cost. Whether this is true or not, I’m not certain. It will be a shame to see it go as it’s always busy in there.

Big, and VERY positive coverage from LBA this morning by Radio Leeds (shock, horror), including an interview with Vince Hodder. All going to plan apparently. The main problem is pacifying passengers who think they've been diverted somewhere else when they see the arrivals hall.

Lots of outbound passengers looking in disbelief at the space and Radio Leeds reporting nobody sat on the floor and plenty of empty seats even during this mornings departures rush.

Amazingly, there was no reference to they who shall not be named, who I'm sure will be crying over their breakfast this morning.

Presumably Arrivals is now live as well? I just missed the opening of Departures by a few days, which was a bit of a shame, but fingers crossed I’ll get to see the new Arrivals when I’m back.

Looking forward to seeing how it all looks now it’s finally up and running!

I believe the space they rent at present is being demolished in phase 2 and they have been quoted more for a new space.

Yes it is. Domestic arrivals is staying in the old building at present.

I mean surely with a bigger footprint = bigger products to sell = more profit.

Such a shame that LBA is now going back to the pre historic days with no Superdrug and no boots.

Also why don't boots promote the buy online and deliver to airports? It's such a good system to get your sun creams, after sun, and other bits especially for hand luggage only customers.

I'm sure last time I tried, Boots stopped this (or they did when it was free) maybe £4.50 chare now. Superdrug/Boots may come back. Be good for LBA to announce who the retail outlets are going to be.

As usual, there are plenty of LBA haters showing their ignorance on line, making what they consider to be smart comments but simply demonstrating they haven't bothered to read the article, or watch the videos. Despite the new arrivals area all on the ground floor, one woman claimed she would never use LBA again because the escalator didn't work. Some folk are beyond help. Actually saying something sensible and positive is clearly beyond them. The joys of social media!!

All very positive reporting indeed.
Sadly let down by Calendar who very quickly descended into questioning airport expansion when there's this thing called climate change, and , they interviewed Foren who seems now to be back within they who shall not be named, looking as miserable as ever. Perhaps he's given up on being my MP. I sincerely hope so although I had been looking forward to him knocking on my door.

The big surprise for me whilst having tea was to see my golf secretary Nick and his wife, Ruth interviewed as they used the terminal prior to flying to Mahon. His wife did the talking whilst he kept quiet. I've just texted them to inform them of their new found fame.

There exists a human sub-species.
And they all hate LBA!

We all know the hate foren has for airports. Fingers crossed he’s given up on being an MP, he’d be a bloody crap one anyway.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
