Not sure if anyone has noticed, but LBA has now tweaked the live arrivals and departures to leave flights showing for longer after they have arrived or departed. I had some correspondence with the web designers and they said they would do this in response to the concerns expressed on here. Although flights are not left on all day like they used to be, the arrivals is still showing an arrival at 1535 this afternoon and it is now 1705.

Having spoke to some of the staff on the airport Information Desk, they also found it awkward not having the information of previous flights. I got the impression that they'd reported it to IT as well. It's good to see that we have a resolve and hopefully what they have done is sufficient.

:diablo: ...... oh well, I looked on departures today at 1425 for BE644 to Exeter containing a family friend, due to depart 1415, and guess what, it's vanished!! Not good enough I'm afraid LBA website department, it's a shame when you've to look on the destination airport website to find a flight status. Another email me thinks!

Agreed - they certainly seem willing to listen, so e mail them and request that flights are left on the web arrivals/departures for even longer - but how long? They said they would change it to 90 minutes. If that isn't long enough perhaps 2 hours? Longer?

I would say the information needs to remain on for the whole day. It might seem like a long time but there are so many scenarios where you might need to know what time a flight departed earlier in the day.

Well the flight info & weather update on lbia.co.uk started off quite good today but now its just abit of a mess.

Thomson flight needs to show its now due Saturday as it makes out it was due earlier today back from TFS when it hasnt even set off! Duh!

SNOW UPDATE still shows next info 1530 next to it

Some flights with no info next to them when they should have landed over an hour ago & yet someone managed to put "On time" next to the Dublin flight!

Why do i get the impression the departure/arrivals board is something for staff to play on & update on a coffee break like facebook!

They must have noticed what you had put on here. Looking by things the live arrivals and departures have been updated now.

Like you say the weather warning needs to be updated by just taking the time of when the next update was due. Also the delayed Thomson should at least say delayed until 16:30 on 08/01/11.

Bad isnt it. So annoying for passengers, family, crew & airport staff who all rely on it.

Suprise suprise the Dublin is infact delayed lol which ever tool put "On time" next to it needs a slap lol was it an atempt at humour i wonder

I think the web boffins have now sorted the arrivals and departures out. They now list all departures and arrivals from this morning and don't dissapear after a short space of time. The arrivals were there for about an hour yesterday but the departures dissapeared very quickly. My other half was flying back from Spain yesterday and I text to tell her that her plane had taken off, and within a minute of it leaving it had vanished from the board.

It is now nice that we can check back to see when flights departed or arrived from a few hours previous.

We now have destinations showing in foreign languages. Jet2 flight from Beograd posted in Serbo Croat.
Munchen and Koln would be nice.

I like the latest ad at the top of the airport homepage stating "why take the M62 to Dubai?, Fly KLM to hundreds of business destinations" The ad is a clear pop at Emirates from Manchester.

I think the news section has been overlooked of late with the problems with the LIVE ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES. Glad to see it back to norm.

Well here is the airports official repsonse regarding yesterdays Budget on its website.

John Parkin, Chief Executive of Leeds Bradford Airport

LBA Budget Reponse
23 March 2011

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) today welcomed the fact that the Chancellor has listened to submissions made by LBA and the travel industry and decided to freeze Air Passenger Duty (APD) at current rates for this year.

However, LBA is warning that passengers still face the prospect of ‘double taxation’ and further increases in flying taxes when aviation enters the EU Emissions Trading Scheme in 2012; and also that the Chancellor may raise APD next year.

APD in the UK is already up to 8.5 times more than the European average. Many European countries have either already abandoned their aviation taxes, or indicated that they will do so, due to the negative effects on their economies, including: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Ireland and Malta.

Even with the freeze, the UK economy is already losing £750m in GDP and 18,000 jobs as a direct result of the recent November 2010 rises in APD, not to mention the thousands of UK tourism jobs lost because less people can afford to holiday here.

John Parkin, LBA's CEO , said:

“LBA cautiously welcomes the fact that Air Passenger Duty is not going up immediately, though would not support a delayed increase coming into effect next year. We now call on the Chancellor to emulate the decisions of European competitor nations to reduce or abolish APD in the UK.

“Additionally, many people aren’t aware that UK aviation is also joining the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in 2012. This means that as things stand passengers will be subject to the costs of both ETS as well as aviation tax, so that holidaymakers and business travellers will effectively be paying double taxation next year.
The Chancellor now needs to set out the government’s approach on reducing taxes on flying when the ETS comes in."

Ends

Update:
For your information:
UK Government has just announced it is launching a consultation on reform of air passenger duty. John Parkin added: "We are pleased that we are being given the opportunity to share our views on the importance of the aviation sector on the Yorkshire economy and would encourage stakeholders to support us in this consultation process to promote more balanced economic growth in the regions".

I have a feeling that when the ETS comes in then most regional airports will take a big hit, it will simply price too many people out of the market altogether.

Does anyone know why the LBIA website has issues with the departure of Jet2 Murcia flights in the morning, yesterday it didn't update until 50 minutes after departure as I had family returning on it and this morning the LS207 departure still shows gate closed now, even though it landed in San Javier 25 minutes ago. Posted from LBIA 5 minutes ago

08:00 MURCIA/SAN JAVIER LS207 GATE CLOSED
10:45 MILAN BERGAMO LS391 DEPARTED 10:48

It seems to have occured when Jet2 changed the flight times from 11.00am to 8.00am. I have noticed this quite a lot and posted something similar in response to wawkrk in the delay and technical post.

Can anyone shed any light on it?

Thanks

Bloody hell at long last it looks like somebody in the Marketing team up LBA has updated the airports website news section. About time too, me thinks

It should be up to date at all time, just like they do with there facebook page. Not like it has been recently where as the facebook is update regularly while the website is update once monthly if not less than that..

Well I tried to do something about it recently and applied for a job as a marketing assistant. I never expected to be in with a shout and I wasn't wrong either - not short-listed. Pity really - I always wanted to work at the airport and it would have enabled me to take early retirement from what is left of my job.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
