The 2 737-300s GDFG and GDFO look to be fixed as they’re down to operate flights today.

Not a great start for the recent joiner B738 G-JZDG which declared an emergency landing in Antalya due to the flaps not deploying delaying the return flight.

A flapless landing at night cant be much fun for the crew.
.
Jet2 are an aircraft down until the flaps get fixed. Do we know how/when the pax will get back and if theres a spare aircraft to operate the flights scheduled for DG today?

FG is doing IBZ but I can't see FO doing any flights today.

Well all the early morning flights seem to have got off ok so if DG was scheduled to operate one of these a replacement must have been found.

Flew LBA to Faro LS441 yesterday. This was supposed to be a 300 but was changed to 800 G-JZHF. The outbound when I checked a few days beforehand there were about 6 spare seats, a lot more when we were on the 800.

I was curious given all the late discounts being fired in to my mail box. If I’d have booked Sunday evening my flights would have been £500 less. Lesson for me now, having always booked to secure the best seats and flights early is to wait until nearer the time as that’s significant money to be saved. I think a lot of people are doing that this year.

I think it’s fair to say resorts are worried. Turkey and Cyprus already saying they will report millions in losses. I haven’t ventured in to Lagos yet (3 year here) but the pool bar owner says takings and bookings are considerably down. That’s not just UK tourists, lots of Portuguese, French and Spanish visit so the cost of living crisis is affecting all nations.

Would appear the aircraft seating part of the group is not affected-“The separate Recaro Group, which manufactures and licenses child safety seats, aircraft seats, gaming chairs and seats for soccer stadiums, is not affected by this filing”.(roadandtrack.com)

Both 300’s had an issue that required specialist MRO support meaning the lead time was greater than normal. Nothing of concern with both frames in good order.

The fleet plans are quite fluid however, the 300 fleet continues to be put through major maintenance checks which to me signals Jet2’s intent on keeping them for the foreseeable.

Looking at the layout and size of stands in LBA (and without diving into too much detail), there are a couple of stands that are not capable of taking anything bigger than a 737-300. This includes stands 1,5,6 (I know not all these are in use) and also includes the three multi-use stands at the eastern end of the main apron (stands 15-18) which can accommodate 1x -800 and 3x -300s at the same time, or instead, can accommodate 3x -800s only (meaning a loss of 1x stand).

Given that all the stands are taken overnight currently, if Jet2 were to upgrade all the -300s to -800s then that’s at least two less stands available to them. This would mean they’d require both the new stands which are planned to be built this winter and would leave the airport with no room for further expansion Jet2 or Ryanair or a new based airline).
I’m guessing Jet2 are aware that they’ll need to keep the -300s for as long as it takes for even more new stands to be built, or else reduce the based number of aircraft, or request use of the new stands?

if that’s the case, I 100% certain lead to believe that LBA will build more stands if Jet2 or any other airline was to request them.

Also worth remembering is unless anything has changed it is possible to have a couple of aircraft parked on taxiway November if necessary. Obviously this isn't ideal but it is possible. Also worth noting is as soon as the arrivals moves to its new home the temporary arrivals structure can then be moved freeing up at least one stand. I'm fairly sure the airport will do this although I don't think I've seen it confirmed anywhere. @White Heather

Agreed, although with everything LBA a solution always creates a hurdle.

The temporary arrivals structure siting on a potential reactivated stand 4 also houses offices for airside operations (safety) meaning they’ll need a new home before the building is potentially removed.

November is a sticky point. Operators do not want their assets parked out on a taxiway where they cannot be accessed by ground staff and to move them requires a lot of messing around from ASU, ATC, ground Op’s etc… Also and this is just me thinking, but the surface of the taxiway is in a shocking state so I doubt continually parking rather heavy machines on it will do it any favours.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
