Discretion being the better part of valour, announce a technical fault, not endangering the safety of the aircraft but needing ground assistance..These guys have been trained by O LearyGot me thinking, how would the pilot deal with that situation when it comes to informing the passengers there diverting to AMS, what would he/she say to not worry the pax, make something up![]()
But it would be quite obvious to some pax that the flights was descending earlier than expected which may alarm some onboard unless some announcement was made? When the pilot(s) have high workload, they say nothing.
That film did actually come to mind as i was writing my bits on hereYou've been watching Airplane![]()
I don't disagree but what would be more alarming? Diverting and landing early or being told one of the pilots is incapacitated. It might be possible for the remaining flight deck crew to alerted the cabin crew and then they can inform the passengers. It would be interesting to know what actually happened. But it would be quite obvious to some pax that the flights was descending earlier than expected which may alarm some onboard unless some announcement was made?
In all seriousness I'd go for technical issue, rather than one of the pilots has conked which might cause more concern than 'Technical' would.I don't disagree but what would be more alarming? Indeed and then it's down to workload and the practicality of making an announcement. The simplest way would be an announcement to say 'one of our airline crew is unwell so sorry folks, we need to divert'. No need to specify who within the crew or what is the matter with them.
