During good weather, the wind typically blows from the southeast, which is ideal for Runway 14 operations. Even when the wind favours Runway 32, some pilots will request Runway 14 tailwind permitting to take advantage of the longer TODA.

If necessary I believe pilots will temporarily turn off “bleed air” from the engines to the air conditioning packs to increase maximum thrust.

And far as im aware when the wind is calm at night runway 14 is prefered for the inbound flights due to them passing over less populated areas rather than flying over the urban areas of leeds.


The rawdon billing hill is the highest point west of moscow with nothing higher between the two!

My understabding is that the top of Cookridge (water tower snd telecoms mast) is higher. Its the highest point in Leeds and there is supposedly nothing higher between there and Moscow in a straight line between the two.

So basically the area of cookridge where the fire station and cookridge tower are located, i guess that would be the highest point?
Talking of highest points i still cant get my head around the fact that the start of runway 14 is the highest part of our runway, from wherever you view the runway it looks higher at the 32 end, it just dont add up! 🤣🤔

Yes. The three main Leeds Water Towers are on the high points, Cookridge/Tinshill, the highest, Moortown and Middleton in the south of the city.

I watched several aircraft holding on the ground earlier as the storm passed over. It seemed to skim the area around the airport.

Jet2 B737-300 G-GDFN has gone tech at Paris CDG after operating the LS267 flight there this morning.

They’re sending another 300 G-GDFG empty down to Paris at 17:40 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 21:00 ETA

B733 G-GDFT will operate the LS265 to Malaga at 21:05 once it returns from Zante.

It appears that Jet2 have another tech 733 as this evening's PMI flight is 2 hours late, and is now being operated by G-HLYF, A321, which has positioned in from GLA.

Meanwhile, the Aer Lingus Dublin flight is cancelled. I know not why.
