Leeds Bradford: Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Having quickly looked at flight radar - Jersey has now departed.

A lot of the flight radar departures are no estimating 19:00 ish for those going somewhere long with the exception of Heraklion which still shows 22:00. The shorter ones (Palma Ibiza) show 22:00. Be fun to watch this evening.

Also on FR - Liverpool to Malta and Liverpool to Heraklion are airborne.

Yes, departure and arrival times seem to be earlier now than shown an hour or so ago.

It seems I'm wrong. And Jet2 have literally just gone to the teams at LBA "get rid of anything you can asap" as flight radar seems to have lit up with a lot of flights.

I think your comment is pure conjecture, unless you can substantiate?

It's tongue n cheek given they've responded with 4 sanctions to our sanctions today. Andrew Neil responded with "and the 5th is NATS failure" 🤣🤣 But I wouldn't put it past them if I'm been honest.

Two flights have just departed so things are moving. Several Ryanair flights now cancelled as well as the KLM.

Update. 3 departures in the last 5 minutes

Update. 5 departures in the last 10 minutes.

Uodate. 7 departures in less than 15 minutes.

Jet2 must have everyone sat on board awaiting clearance. Good job.

3 outbounds cancelled today (all Jet 2). CTA,PMI and AGP

Add CFU to that list
The CTA was cancelled due to the MT Etna volcano.

PMI 257 is operating tomorrow evening I believe as LS9257

There’s 2 DLM flights this evening. 1 bringing stranded Manchester passengers back after their flight got cancelled yesterday due to ATC issues. Aircraft flying to Leeds as it’s needed here so can’t go MAN.

CFU and AGP are cancelled as there’s nothing available to operate the flights. Not sure yet what the plan is for bringing Pax back.

3x 733s are tech GDFM, GDFO, GDFL
3x 738s are tech JZBX JZHD GDFY (I think)

A220 from Air Baltic has been drafted in to cover and is currently planned to operate tomorrows LS273 LBA-ALC flight 08:00

Sounds familiar! I think this will be the second time Air Baltic have subbed for Jet2 at Leeds Bradford. I well remember the first.

Isnt CTA going to operate to Trapani?

6 LBA based units tech!! Wow.
Must be close to a record surely! I don't recall seeing this before in my 6 years of closely following activities at LBA

Don't quite recall when that was. Can someone enlighten me?

Not sure but at present they have it down as operating the return flight tomorrow.

With regard to the poster above it could be that Jet2 are taking a more cautious approach whereas other airlines are happy to operate as normal into CTA. Similar to what happened to the Malta flights a few weeks ago.

We're sorry to tell you that due to Volcanic activity affecting Sicily (Catania) Airport, your flight has been delayed.

We have credited your boarding passes with €10 each towards some light refreshments. To see where to use this, please visit http://tinyurl.com/nw7szr2/CTA.

If you're affected by this change, the delay means you won't be flying until tomorrow, due to limited availability we are trying to source accommodation for you this evening and will update you soon. We'll arrange a coach to take you to the hotel and back to the airport tomorrow morning.

We're currently putting together a revised schedule for this flight. We'll add the schedule here on the website, along with the pick-up time from the hotel. You'll also receive this information by email, SMS and information letter.

If you don't want to travel on this revised flight, you can visit our team at the Jet2.com customer help desk at the airport to find out more about the options available.

It's rare for our schedules to be disrupted like this. Our dedicated operations teams are working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ, and on behalf of us all, we're sorry again for the inconvenience this delay brings. We'll have you on your way as soon as we can.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
