Due to fly back from ALC to LBA this eve on FR9078 which will be my 2nd 737 max8 flight, currently down as Reg EI-IJL which is the newby one registered last month, so just gonna pack a few screws, elec screw driver etc in my case!
Just an update on my earlier post, 55min late departing ALC this eve but landed back at LBA Just 20mins late.

Must admit the 737 max8s are a very nice aircraft indeed! Loads of extra legroom, the overhead lockers are huge in fact anyone short would have a problem trying to reach to the back of them, the cabin itself just feels more spacious due to its design layout with some nice touches to the roof design and i also noticed that the cabin crew have a fancy touch screen monitor wall mounted for controlling things such as the lighting. Still though because of the maxs history im still a bit nervy so kept my seatbelt on haha
We landed runway 14 this eve, very smooth touchdown with some serious reverse thrust from the max engines which have a very nice sound to them when inside the plane! They do seem to have some good stopping power behind them!
From leaving the aircraft and after a long walk was through security and land side in just 10mins so a good LBA experience!

Security was very quiet this morning at 5am. New scanners in use but I still had to take my belt off!
Someone was complaining at Ryanair check in as their bag did not fit in the hole - £70 to put in hold. They should check the rules before they go.
Kl flight departed on time, nice smooth flight, about 80 on board.

Jet2 bag check in quite busy but through in no time. Queue at security but not too big, we had fast track and straight through. New scanners in operation so you could leave all the stuff in your bags. Just belts off and nothing in pockets. New footwear scanners so shoes remain on as well. Breezed through. Whether they will leave it just using just the 2 streams of new scanners installed through the summer or utilise both old and new, we will see. Very busy this morning but plenty of staff on duty. Hopefully LS217 is on time 🤞

[EDIT] - Photos removed, it is not allowed insecurity areas.

The cabin bag moaners really annoy me..over the last few months I have noticed the airlines are clamping down on it as it did become a joke.

Arrived back (late) yesterday and taxied to Stand 7. After a couple of minutes we were informed that we were parked too far forward for the airbridge, so had to wait for a push back!
I thought that there were markings on the apron informing pilots where to stop for that particular aircraft. We didn't have to wait long, but I didn't feel that we moved.
Anyone on duty for the lunchtime KL flight?

I'm not sure the Pilots can see the markings on the apron, but there should be a ground handler guiding the Pilots to the correct position.

They can’t see the stop line so a ground handler (myself included) have to Marshall the aircraft onto the stand.

With Stand 7 it has to be stopped exactly on the line for the specific aircraft otherwise it can be tricky to get the air bridge on

That stand has one of those electronic guides but I have never seen it been used./ never works.

I was under the impression both 7 & 8 were equipped with AGS (Automatic Guidance System).
That’s what I meant by electronic guides(couldn’t remember what they were called). They do have them but I’ve never seen them used and they don’t seem to work. Plus stand 8 bridge is knackered and has been for a long time. The markings on stand 7 have been changed recently aswell.

The automated parking guidance systems are not operational and all stands require a marshaller for all parking.

The marshaller or pilot may have made an error in judgement in applying the brakes or giving the signal to apply and thus being forward of the stop line.

Depending on the stop line and aircraft, there's maybe an 18-inch window in which to plant the nosewheel, which can be aggrevated by poor weather/visibility, wind, speed of the aircraft and pilot/marshaller actions.

IMO, not a great setup for a somewhat large airport, especially if the airline is paying for the privilege of using the bridge.

There were only about 100 on the outbound FR flight, no announcement from the flight deck until he told cabin crew to sit for landing. Otherwise the service was very good from a very young cabin crew.
This afternoon there were 145 on a B733, again the cabin crew were very good, Had to check in at PMI, massive queue so I asked at Jet2 desk if I had to queue as I only had hand luggage, they checked in for me, I must be looking my age. Captain gave us our route in great detail, strong headwind so it was going to take us 2hr 50mins (2hr 5mins on way out) and another announcement as we were coming over Bedfordshire - I must admit I do like to know the flightpath.
Obviously the aircraft was not going out again as we parked right near the end of the apron, bus to Terminal, guess what, the escalator was working (I walked up the steps quicker) It took 5 mins to clear border control, 5 mins wait for Sentinel bus and away from there 35 mins after landing.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
