When you find a sense of humorWell next time write something funny![]()
It was announced to staff a couple of days ago. I see in the Newcastle press it was reported that David Laws was "retiring". (Northern Chronicle, April 2017) Interesting that he is now here, and at 57 years old is not likely to be here that long!Yes, I have just checked on the LBA website and the airport have announced that John Parkin is retiring as Chief Exectutive of LBA, but will continue as a Non Executive Director. He is replaced by David Laws, who was CE at Newcastle for 10 years. No date for the change is given in the announcement

It's called banter, mate!Have I stumbled on a forum for children by mistake?
Hopefully the new man will reinstate some of the impetus that has been lost.
I am sure LBA will just do what it normally does......ignore!
Sorry, but how has impetus been lost? Almost 20% pax increase in April, increasing every month prior to that by significant figures, more flights this year and more again next year, significant terminal work ongoing at the present time. Obviously there is more to do, but it isn't as though LBA has flat-lined. There is continual and significant growth year on year.
Well said White Heather. How can anyone detract from the positivity that is going on with LBA and the pax increase. If the experience was that bad and that impossible then pax would still not use the services offered, so regardless of whether FR and LS are attracting more pax through extra capacity, LBA are playing their part in all of that and the experience is going to be improved sooner rather than later by not delaying certain improvements until the winter. Yes we all know their is still an untapped market out there and the change of management may help to bring that, but that is only going to be further positivity and a further increase in pax on top of the very impressive figures recently posted.Rather unfair that comment Aviador. The reason it is carnage is because LBA in currently investing a considerable amount on terminal works which will, when finished, significantly improve the customer experience. Many, including on here, were very quick to express the view that the works to extend the terminal should NOT be delayed until next winter, and LBA obviously agreed, starting the work immediately, with pretty much 24/7 work going on, (at additional cost), to ensure that the terminal is better by the summer peak. So whilst it may well be carnage, and unacceptable now during the peak periods due to the works being carried out, LBA are not ignoring the problem - they are currently fixing it. And, I can assure you that whilst LBA do not see fit to engage in publicly commenting in papers etc., they are very much aware of customer comments, whether positive or negative.
As for the comments of the 'respected journalist' - well I can think of one instantly who writes on a local paper who has made clear their dislike for LBA, and its management and who misses no opportunity to put LBA down whilst extolling the supposed virtues of DSA. Personally I take have no regard for anything any journalist might have to say.
