Michael, I thought the same thing. It has been like that since Saturday now. I think it has been moved by the wind as this is the second time it has moved. When I first discovered the webcam you could see up to Stand 12, then it moved and you could see only to Stand 10. It seems to have been moved yet again with a full view of the Jet2.com offices - at least we can watch the construction of the extention on the offices

I think we will just have to wait until Multiflight realise it has moved....

In relation to the frequencies posted previously, has anybody noticed the interference from York Hospital on the tower frequency (455.6125)

I was listening out the other day and i found it rather amusing for tower to give clearance for a ryanair to land; for a security bloke to then inform another security guard of a car parked on double yellow lines. Something should be done about this.

LBIA Tels and Ofcom are aware of the problem. What happens next we'll have to see but bearing in mind that the airport has been using said frequency for donkey's years, it would make sense for York Hospital to have an alternative frequency allocated.

tower freq 455.6125? is that on another band to the 120.3 or something?!

That's the UHF frequency for vehicles and personnel on the manoeuvring area. The VHF frequency (120.3) is re-broadcast on the UHF frequency, but not vice versa.

Sorry, I have a query. If a 757 is landing on Rwy14 and misses Twy D, does it have to proceed all the way to the turning area at the Rwy 32 end, or is a 757 capable of turning on the runway?

A 757 can comfortably turn round on the runway, as can a Lockheed TriStar. Sadly not too many of the latter around these days.

As it's along similar lines of discussion, I think the turning D was specially widened when they extended the runway to allow the Boeing 747 to use the airfield.

Maybe just worth noting, LBA runway is a standard international width of 46m (150ft) as is LHR and Gatwick etc. Greater widths of usually 60m are military standards where jet fighters can take off in pairs. For this reason, many Eastern European runways were built to 60m.during the cold war.

Race off To Le Mans From Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) and the region’s top race and road car manufacturer, Ginetta, joined forces this week to promote Yorkshire’s links with Le Mans and its world famous race track.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of LNT Group, said, “The Le Mans 24 hour race is one of the biggest events on the motorsport calendar so it’s fantastic that Ryanair have scheduled direct flights from Leeds Bradford to Nantes. If the sport becomes more accessible as a result of Ryanair’s new service, and more British fans are able attend, then this step forward is a very positive move.”

Tony Hallwood, Commercial Director at Leeds Bradford Airport, said, “As Yorkshire’s Gateway airport we are delighted to offer an easy route to the world renowned racing event at Le Mans. Visitors can be at the track experiencing the excitement and soak in the adrenalin of the event in just under 45 minutes from Nantes Airport."

Just seen a Thomson 757 land at the airport, it was TOM2323 13:25 ibiza to manchester, states on Manchester arrivals as diverted but doesn't say why.

Something has happened at MAN as the Enfidha to MAN flight also Thomson has diverted to EMA, G-FDZG.
A 738, also Thomson has diverted into LBA from Salzburg, also from MAN.

tomleeds, the Salzburg diversion was an A320 still in First Choice colours, not a Boeing 737-800. Hope that helps

My apologies White Heather.

The Thomson 757 was G-OOBE and left LBA at around 1505hrs, still as Thomson2323/TOM4TE.
Not sure about the A320.

Not a problem Tom - both twin engines and not too difficult to mix up if seen from the wrong angle. Fortunately I live just to the side of the final approach and happened to be outside when the A320 landed. It looks as though both aircraft just used LBA as a temporary stop whilst the storm cleared, then heading back over the Pennines with their passengers still on? Having said that, both flights were shown as arrivals on the LBA arrivals board, suggesting that the passengers disembarked. Anyone know if they got off or stayed on and went back to MAN?

3 thomson planes, BMI plane, thomas cook, 2 jet2 and 2 monarch have diverted from Manchester in which 1 Thomson plane and the 2 jet2 aircraft have diverted to Leeds Bradford, a monarch one was to divert here but instead choose to go East midland due to the crew, also more are expected to divert as far as I am aware with some diverting to Leeds Bradford, tell you something LBA will be loving these diverts with the money they will gain from them.
