Again the DSA brigade are posting this as a reason to get DSA back open? citing that extra flights (Wizz) are the reason why we are exceeding limits (apparently) Wizz operate during hours where the movements are not restricted and I'm pretty sure the report was from last summer when DSA was open. they will cling on to any hope they can, don't see the bigger picture and all follow like a sheep to one specific supporter MC who what he says is gospel apparently.. OK lets reopen the airport, TUI x3/x4 aircraft.. then what? the airport continues losing money (public money) andddd that's it.. great

The DSA supporters are really desperate aren't they? And totally uninformed. The period which GALBA are moaning about was the summer ending on 31st October 2022, and the first Wizz flights commenced immediately after, none if which have bothered the night flight stats anyway.

It seems that they blame LBA for the failure of their airport, yet its mainly MAN that steals their passengers - and LBAs!

Yeadon residents suffer sleep deprivation, airport suspected!!!

There’s always strange noises in York, in Ireland, at the coast is what I've seen videos off. They happen all the time- of course airports the first blame. I’ll leave my Tin foil hat alone on this one.

A high pitched noise would likely come from a military base not an airport. Plus the times he’s hearing the airports shut for runway works. Typical anti airport idiot - got a solution for him that he won’t like.

I dont think he's anti airport he's just looking around for where the sound may be coming from. I would suggest he tries AETC as they have (or had) a night shift.

I used to live next door to AETC and it frequently had a humming noise, possibly fans or air conditioning of some sort. The noise was far worse than that coming from the airport. It's nothing new and to be honest it's something else we need just accept living in the area. Previously Aireborough was littered with mills and the associated noises they used to bring. These NIMBYs need to get a life. Sadly we live in a snowflake era and they will complain about everything.

Just imagine the fuss if, like me, he lived within 5 miles of the infamous Kirkstall Forge Steam Hammer that literally banged on all night back in the day when there was a Kirkstall Forge. Nobody bothered. People still slept. And back then, we had the sound of Dart turbobprop engines on our based Viscounts being tested overnight. Just imagine now! GALBA would make enough noise to drown out both!

Used to live on the tenth floor of a block of flats in Beckett’s Park and could clearly hear it! Like you say it didn’t bother anyone and people just got on with it.

I would like to ask someone on this forum a favour

This weekend I will be very busy so I will have literally no opportunities to do a thing that I like to do - record the loads of flight to/from LBA. This is how I estimate the Wizz Air average load factors among other things.

Certain flights have loads under the amount the booking engine alone can detect so I have to resort to seat maps. These fill up the closer to the departure time so the ones for Sunday won't be anything like accurate. Certain destinations (DUB, BFS) also sell tickets close to departure time so even if I can get the precise load without seat maps, I will have to recheck it later.

Doing this would require the loads of these flights to be checked (not all really needed - any would be appreciated)

Key

seat map = check the seat map
eg. (-21) = enter into the search bar 21 adults and see if the flight is available to book. To access between (-25) and (-72) on Ryanair edit the url (25 adults 24 teens 24 children, do not enter infants)

Apologies if this message seems too long. If it is not doable then do not attempt it.

Well officially the main summer season starts tomorrow, its going to be a very busy year at LBA with more variety of movements this summer.
I will certainly be heading upto the viewing points and like previously mentioned its good to see some later evening departures.
I’m going to try and go tomorrow. The afternoon does look very busy! It’ll be even busier in June

I've got a flight to Barcelona on 11th May at 0640. I'm going hand luggage only, have already checked in online and don't intend to spend anything at the airport. The first bus to LBA gets there at about 0510. Do we think this is early enough? I only need to get through security and go to the gate.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
