Whilst checking my emails I came across a UK Government update on Airport Slots. As Leeds is referred to I thought it might be worth posting this:

Leeds Bradford airport has been approved by the Secretary of State to be designated as a Level 3 airport for the summer season in the night-time only from summer 2024.

Proposals laid out in the consultation will apply to slots held by both passenger and cargo-only flights at these airports. These reform proposals will set out how the slot system will be:

  • more efficient, dynamic and transparent
  • well-prepared for the allocation of new slots
The reform proposals are not related to – and without prejudice to – the consideration of existing or future airport expansion applications by local planning authorities or ministers.

Slot coordination cannot increase an airport’s capacity. It is the administrative process that makes use of an airport’s existing capacity. It is also a planning tool that helps ensure the operations of an airport remain within set capacity limits and environmental obligations – including night flight and noise limits.

All as stated by LBAs CEO but he was laughed at, jeered and accused of lies, at the meeting he attended some weeks ago regarding the CLEUDs, which was hijacked by they who shall not be named.

Well he’s not done his homework on who owns the airport or the attempt to get a brand new state of the art terminal, blocked by the central Government politicians at every turn and those we cannot mention. Hopefully if he comes back in two to three years time once the extension is built he’ll have a different opinion. He’s right about those bananas in the lounge though-they were terrible!

dunno if the link works but a review by the Macmaster

Oh dear, another clown after his 15 mins of fame...So many inaccuracies..He failed to mention that security is in turmoil but because the system is getting the update we all want, that will transform the process..Never mind...Ok the lounges are hit and miss but they are the same everywhere. If he`d read Trip Advisor etc he would have known that, but I suspect he did.If he`d gone into the Cabin he would have had an excellent breakfast in a similar atmosphere to the Lounges and no rushing you out..The funniest inaccuracy was when he demanded that Leeds City Council put some money into this airport!!..Unless I missed it, there was little praise for the carrier either. I went though it last August Bank Holiday and it was well organised and busy. He went though it midweek in December.........nuff said...Eejit

I haven't looked at his offering and have no intention of doing so after reading the comments on here. Pillocks like him have an agenda (unknown to me) and are not worth the air they breath.
I've watched several other videos on You Tube , all of which have been relatively complimentary about LBA. One was entitled 'Is this the UKs worst airport?'. Answer - no. The reviewer was pleasantly surprised .

Some of these reviewers have an agenda, and are best ignored. They hate that. They're the same type of people who give a restaurant, or hotel, or car dealership one star, when the other 99% gave it 5 stars. Total plonkers leading their sad lives.

He may have focused unfairly on some negative points, but just because he expresses a view with which you and others disagree makes him neither a plonker nor sad. Hopefully the airport will look objectively at these comments.
On that we can agree to disagree. He ignores key issues, doesn't know his facts, and I imagine the hard working staff at LBA might have a view on people who make these videos.

Out of interest, any opinion on what is the worst city airport actually is in the UK? And why?

We called him the disparaging names because he had earned them.We don`t have problems with different opinions when they are based on facts. This fella made a big issue of the problems within the security area, yet failed, deliberately in my opinion, to mention that it was undergoing a huge upgrade that will transform security transit times. He belittled the lounges that he chose to pay for yet had no comment on the other and varied eateries within the airside. I wouldnt expect him to have commented on future developments there, that would have been unfair, but I did expect him to comment objectively on what he experienced. In that Sir he failed and in respect of my comments Quad Scripti Scripti applies.

NQY is pretty poor, the worst one I have ever used, tatty, very small departure lounge, and the bar is a glass-fronted standard size fridge with a few bottles of beer in it.
The Lounge was a small room with about 8 armchairs which were tatty. No windows or views of the runway.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
