When I get chance to do my full report I will share some facts and figures, which include noise and general support. But what is clearly evident is that it is what we already knew that it is a minority that are shouting the loudest. So as @LBAYORKIE quite rightly says, for those of us that can, please make every effort to attend these events. They are really informative - even Mrs Finger was engrossed last night. Chatting to some of the LBA staff in attendance last night, only very briefly to VH himself, they really do appreciate the/our support

I echo all the above: the attendance was dire, but we flew the flag. The "best" bit was when Vince dismissed DSA as a non-entity and LBA would always concentrate on narrow body planes. Added to that the CEO
flew back from the Middle East via AMS my favourite hub. If I ask do we need LHR the hornets will begin circling!

I can't see anything above that would be an issue for the wider public? I certainly don't mind the right people reading my opinion of them should they bother venturing on here. Can you be more specific about what your post is aimed at?

I read it as a general reminder WH. Possibly as the topic is quite emotive there could be the possibility of people crossing the line to become person to any individuals who attended. I don’t believe Aviador is suggesting there is a problem with anything posted but just a reminder of the public nature of the forum and our posts and how we are all accountable. Anonymity on a forum would be no defence if someone is personal or were to defame someone. Just as it would be to do the same to forum members.

Absolutely correct @HX3 it is just a friendly reminder that our forum is a public space, and the conversations we have here can be read by anyone online.

While we all enjoy casual and open discussions, it's always a good idea to pause for a second before posting and think "Would I be comfortable with this comment being seen by a future employer, a family member, or a complete stranger?"

Let's continue to make this a great place for debate by keeping our discussions respectful and constructive, even when we disagree.

Thanks for helping to keep our community awesome!

Thanks. I wondered if some comment had already been made that was an issue, but couldn't see what that comment might be.

Whats clear is that VH and his team need more support from the majority that do support LBA, so we as a team on here ideally need to attend these meetings more, from what i saw last night im surprised there aint more of us attending these events.
VH spoke for literally 2.5hrs last night, the info he provided was off the scale!
Did you speak to him directly and did you advise him you are part of this group?

Exactly there are far more serious situations occuring in this country at the moment, situations that will make aircraft noise the last thing on people's minds!

Just back from the LBA community meeting, a very enjoyable speech by vince hodder this eve and certainly an eye opener. Lots of very interesting statistics and data produced. How vince manages to cope with some of those attending is beyond me and some of the comments are just ridiculous ie " the plane noise is unbearable when in the garden" 😂
A lady from those that shall not be named was handing out leaflets at the door, what a sad individual!
I lived for a few years in Burley-in-Wharfedale right beneath 32/14 flight paths at the eastern edge of the village - so aircraft at their lowest altitude after take off or on approach.. The plane noise being 'unbearable' when in the garden is of course a huge exaggeration - but that's what you would expect. Sadly, Burley in Wharfedale has expanded very significantly from my days there with obscene numbers of new houses with the potential to house even more moaners. I'll wager there's far more road noise than aircraft noise - but of course that's alright!

Is it clear? I would much rather VH gets to speak to as many concerned residents as he can so that they can hear first hand from the airport rather than being informed by a campaign group that are of course only interested in pushing their side of the story.

I did and also mentioned the same earlier in the evening to some of his colleagues. Reiterating our support for LBA

There were some interesting facts last night about how few official complaints there had been and a lot from the same few individuals. I will share specifics when I compile my full report

It is also an opportunity for us to speak to concerned residents to allay their fears. What I found was people who genuinely worried about noise didn't know about new aircraft types. They had no idea LBAs main airline is still using the oldest aircraft. They had no idea blocking the airport from amending the night flying quota was preventing airlines like Jet2 from basing new quieter aircraft. So yes we can have an impact at these meetings by speaking directly with these people.

I suppose the opposition will go on about the C02 problem! There isn't one. There are only 4 parts per million of C02 in the atmosphere. The UK produces 1 per cent per year i.e. 1 per cent of 4 parts per million. China producers 10 per cent.. This figure alters with the season as the when the sea cools in winter then it absorbs some of the gas and releases some of it back when THE SUN WARMS the earth. That allows the green leaves on the trees and green grass. C02 is not a poisonous gas either, it helps oxygen yo get into our blood stream and our organs.

Suspect part of the attendance problem is the lack of publicity around them…LBA try their best but they are let down by local politicians who seem to do very little if anything to publicise them…You can bet G….A are on the case encouraging their mates to rock up hence the disparity in those who do and don’t support LBA…I went back this morning to search the Menston Village Facebook group which is the main method of communication here and there hasn’t been one post about the event at Kirklands. Very poor by local councillors but not rely a surprise….

@Snackbar you are exactly right because one of the LBA Sustainability Team asked me last night how they could broaden awareness of these events. On top of the obvious Website, Facebook, Linkedin I did say we try to drum up support on the forum with @LBAYORKIE very much taking the lead on that.
An afterthought has also been about time and days - not everyone is retired and not everyone finishes work at 1700, so would some weekend events be a good idea so I will be relaying that back to the LBA Team Member involved

That is a very valid point finger66, I live in Elloughton which is near to Hull, working full-time, so there is no way I could ever get to a meeting in the area of the airport for 5.30pm (unless I charter Concorde). An occasional meeting at a weekend then things would be different and I'm sure a lot of other people are in a similar position. Look at the positives, we have a passenger throughput currently of around 4.5m yet only 25 turn up specifically to protest about the airport and development plans. Says it all that LBA must be doing something right and 99.99% of people support the airport and expansion by using it every year.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
