I guess you mean this one aviador.

It sounds like there having fun in the terminal just now due to a power cut at LBA. Jet2 flight LS315 to Paris Cdg was due out at 10:30 has only just departed 3 hours late. Also hearing a few Airlines having to call ATC (Tower) to get info from ground services.

It was a nightmare, central screening had to close down and all the inbound flights were back logged and were not able to exit baggage reclaim. Hence in excess of 500 people not very happy and being unable to go anywhere.

Its great that the airport have finally uploaded a guide and map to the new development.

I am trying to imagine what it was like before and piecing everything together to how it was before and am already seeing how much of a difference has been made!

I should be able to give an insight into what the new development is like during peak time as I am flying out of the airport on July 29th for 2 weeks in Spain so will update you all on what its like with a lot of people around!
I'm already excited about looking around the airport and I'm two months away!!

Do you mean security or Border Control, what was the problem there?

When you look at the layout of the apron, most aircraft park at one end, and the terminal is at the other end which is quite odd. The prime spots of 1 to 3 are pretty useless. The huge grassed area could easily be used to widen the apron in this area. A walkway is being provided as most aircraft cannot get close to the terminal. Instead of building walkways, why not move a few aircraft to the terminal where they are supposed to be.

When the Terminal was built in 1968 (I think), smaller aircraft were in use (Visc, HS748) and used to "self park" at an angle to the Terminal. Now that the aircraft are larger and park nose in, there isn't much room behind for aircraft to taxi so only DHC8 and below can park on 4, 5 &6. I think 1,2 &3 are taken up with apron vehicle parking.

Yes thanks Seasider.Over the years it has become worse. As you remember there was a very nice viewing area between the terminal and the fire station. The apron in that area could have been widened and you would think the fire station would have been moved long ago. Logically, I assume the apron should have been extended in each direction as much as possible to keep the terminal central, the opposite has happened.I know arriving passengers have somehow got to cross over or under departing passengers which is difficult without more levels but utilising the whole apron seems to make sense instead of using it as a car park for apron vehicles.

Stand 1 used most days and though the largest to park there seems to be the DHC8's im sure it can accomdate larger. 3 is used by BMI all the time.

I see there are 61 departures tomorrow (Friday), is this a record?
Maybe lbaspotter can confirm this.
There are 15 departures up to 8 o'clock. I will be in the thick of it so I will see just how crowded it is. I wonder what the figure will be when new additions start.

It certainly seems a lot of rotations!

There are 16 before 9am on Saturday which is still quite a lot!

Sunday is normally the busiest day in terms of passengers I have been told so lets wait and see if Sunday can be any better!

Hi Tom,

I assume there are more holiday flights on Sunday but less smaller aircraft schedules.

I think the highest amount of departures in a full day from Leeds-Bradford was around the 70 mark in 2010.
As we still had departures to 2x Edinburgh (BMI) 1x Plymouth & 1x Newquay (Air Southwest), 2x Southampton & 2x Teeside (Eastern) 3x London Gatwick & 1x Aberdeen (Flybe) and not forgetting Jet2's cut back as we had a midday Belfast on a Friday and Paris was still running 2x daily as well.

I wouldn't expect it to be to busy tommorow, last week we (catering + retail) expected a hell of a busy day, and it was a quiet busy day (enough to just keep busy). With it being the last friday before kids go back to school, i would expect it to be moderate, and you'll have very relaxed terminal experience one would hope wawkrk.

The airport is handling between around 4500 and 6000 departing passengers a day at the moment. I think the summer peak will be around 7000. That's just departing so if you double up you'll get a good idea of the daily totals to include arriving passengers.

Thanks lbaspotter and nicholas.

We will be in the Premier lounge in any case but there seems to be quite a few flights close together and 3 at 8 o'clock when we depart. It was fairly quiet in the afternoon a couple of weeks ago but mornings are much busier. Mornings have always been busy over the years but now we have 757,s etc. which alone are almost the same as 5 x Fokker 50,s.

Queues this morning up to cental screening from check in hall A. Also staff holding pax back from time to time from decending the escalator down to the gates and causing a blockage. Otherwise it seemed to be coping ok.

Over 6800 departing passengers today if any one is interested.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
