So as for PIA, if they do decide to upgrade to a 777, it shouldn't make all that much difference all things considered.

I think one thing that will almost definitely need to be considered when the B777 is allowed into LBA is it's handling conditions if it has been delayed. A 2-3hour delay can put it into the height of the busy evening arrivals and so the airport needs to be prepared to handle the B772 as well it's other traffic simultaneously!

Anyone have any ideas as to why nothing can be picked of on the towers UHF frequency?

It's just a shame a lot of the 'customer' faces in there are actually airport staff.

Am currently in LBA Departures and must say this is now a proper airport! Probably the same amount of passengers but in a much larger space! Loving the experience so far... Hope I haven't spoken too soon...

They were my thoughts too when I passed through the other week. Am going to be there during the 'morning rush' in a few weeks so I'm reserving judgement until then, but so far so good.

£2 drop off charge

stanstead is to introduce a £2 drop off fee,i wonder if there will be as much fuss about it as lba?

Hi everyone

I've had several complains recently that the http://www.lbaspotters.netwebsite home page hadn't been working correctly and in some cases had even been crashing on some Internet browsers, Including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.

Can I now ask you all to please check your browser again to see if the homepage to the http://www.lbaspotters.net website is now displaying correctly again. If not try refreshing your cookies before hand. I'm only putting this out as I have just spent a few hours this morning trying to solve the problem and I have now hopefully have resolved the issue.

Please feel free to leave some feed back. As it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Ross

[textarea]Travelodge agrees deal to cut debts

Travelodge said the firm was now in a much stronger financial position

Hotel chain Travelodge has agreed a deal to cut its debts substantially, which it says will secure the long-term future of the business.

Some £235m of bank debt will be written off, helping to cut the total to £329m.

Three major investors will also inject £75m into the firm. Much of it will go into refurbishing 175 hotels, starting next year.

Travelodge also wants to find new operators for 49 hotels and pay greatly reduced rents on 109 more.

It said it would work with its landlords to try to find other businesses to take over the running of the hotels, in the hope of avoiding job losses.

We are again including a 'clawback' mechanism for landlords, so they can share in the turnaround of the restructured company's future ”

Travelodge has been struggling with debts estimated at more than £1bn, but has been making profits on its day-to-day operations. It will now be given more time to pay off its remaining debts at lower interest rates.

The BBC has reported that Travelodge has been in financial difficulty. Does anybody know how the LBA Travelodge performs or is it at risk of being offloaded by the group?

I don't know but I know that a lot of people do prefer to use the Premier Inn at the Murgatroyds junction!

I remember once having to look for some hotel deals not far from the airport for a foreign friend and the prices quoted between the two at the time, weren't that bad! However when I looked into what you got for your money, the Premier Inn had a long list of 'Conditions' if you like of which you would get for your money. I remember the Travelodge only had basic tea/coffee making machines and that was basically it!

You also have to pay for parking at the Travelodge, which I suppose does stop people from using their car-park instead of the airports if people are trying to find a loop in the system but still, it's a bit of a con! The Premier Inn also has the Beefeater next door, which I think they have some sort of set-up with!

True, the lack of food and drink options at the Travelodge is a disadvantage. I've seen groups of people walking from the Travelodge past the airport towards Yeadon on a few occasions, probably looking for a pub or somewhere to eat. Previously before the terminal work they could walk to the airport and use Yates and Burger King up until early evening but now the only option is 'Caffe Ritazza'.

Just been listening to Leeds ATC Approach and Tower this evening and within the last 30 minutes or so 3x inbound aircraft including a Jet2, Boeing 737-300, Avion Express, Airbus A319 and a Ryanair, Boeing 737-800WL have all reported green laser attacks from the left hand side while on short finals to runway 32

The West Yorkshire Police Helicopter ("Police 42") has now been dispatched to help out and hopefully find the culprit.....

This evenings lazer attack update:

Good news as the Police Helicopter "Police 42" has just reported to Leeds ATC on Approach that the culprit who shone the green laser beam onto 3x inbound aircraft whilst they were on short finals to runway 32 this evening has now been picked up and detained by West Yorkshire Police..

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
