Guess what...the bogs were up the spout again on Sunday. Same excuse as last week. Does anyone know what is going on? They keep going on about a collapsed drain or such like.

I don't know what's going on there bigman. The terminal sewage system was built in the 1960's to cater for around a couple of hundred thousand passengers, not the 2.7m passengers that it handles today! I hope they don't expect the new terminal facility to operate using the same sewage system with the projected passenger increases to 5m. I have a wet, soggy, smelly and sticky feeling that they probably will though.

Hmmm nice to see that once again the Departured/Arrivals feed is a complete mess. What a Professional airport.

X2 FR155, 1 listed as departing at 1401 & the other at 0100??? in the morning (Mr O will love errors like that in the public domain)
TXC146K, No destination

KL1551 is early today, listed as expected "1640"
TCX146L, No origin. its coming from the bermuda triangle

What hope is there really when a simple arrivals/departures feed is managed in this way. its so unhelpful for family, friends and taxi firms trying to monitor things so they can attempt a well timed pick up in that wonderful fast drop off zone to avoid paying or getting a fine down the road from rent a cop.

The arrivals and departures have had long standing problems with certain airports, which can be easily remedied by the airport. I have reported numerous new destinations that have had this problem, and the response from the airport has been very slow on most occasions, even though my own contact there has written straight back to confirm she has notified the fault to their IT people. Most of those have now been resolved, but Bodrum and Monastir now seem to be causing problems. Bodrum never appears on the screen. Last year they had the same problem with Olbia and no doubt the thing will throw a tantrum when it is asked to display Antalya next year. It is, unprofessional in the extreme and whilst I am aware that a new web site is being developed, that is no excuse for the errors and constant faults on this one.

I think the problem also lies in that individuals are charged with the input of boarding times, departure times & estimates etc. The task of updating the system should lie with one department/person on a daily basis.

Also something to take note of, the STD of a flight is actually the time at which the aircraft begins to move from its parking position or with some airlines they specify the moment the beacons are lit on the aircraft. In most cases airlines allow aprox 15 minutes of ground taxi time in the overall flight time. STD is not the time at which the aircraft is set to depart the runway.

Many airports now show the actual departure time as this but Leeds still posts the departure times as airbourne times, so in most cases the general public would think most LBA flights depart between 5 to 10 minutes behind schedule.

I wish LBA would start to show the Actual pushback times as it would look much better for the airlines & the airport.

Will someone please get that screen fixed up in the cafe!!! It is still displaying the details at about 13:30 from Friday 16th October. it is beyond a joke!!

Par for the course I am afraid when it comes to LBA and their information systems.

On a separate note, I couldn't help but notice that today we had a huge 3 hour gap between any arrivals. Good to tell the winter schedule is here! In fact the gap was so long that there were two KLM arrivals in succession, one at 1010 and the next at 1400, with nothing inbetween. Starting to look like Humberside!!

Winter is now upon us White Heather. The same occured today with the 2 x KLM flights. Going to be quite strange getting used to the new timetable, i mean a Ryanair DUB service at 07.10???????

Yes, it seems very early and I hope it doesn't have a negative impact on passenger numbers. On the other hand, if folk can get up in the morning, they are at least in Leeds by the time the shops open, which might bring a few passengers over for Christmas. Given our early morning mist problem, it is perhaps just as well that FR 737's can and do use Cat 111 - except of course we don't have it at the moment. I can't help thinking it strange to do work on the ILS at the time of year when traditionally we suffer worst from diverts due to low cloud and fog!!

Bristol has Cat 111b on its westerly runway (the reciprocal easterly cannot be so equipped because of topography) and I noticed last winter that when Cat 111 was operational the easyJet 319s all seemed to land but the Ryanair 737-800s sometimes diverted elsewhere.

I asked on the fruity message board whether this was likely to be because the FR crews may not have been 'current' on Cat 111 but was told the 737s need a bit more horizontal visibility (layman's language) than the 319s even when Cat 111 is in use. I can't remember whether this was supposed to apply to all 737-800s or whether it was company policy with Ryanair.

Perhaps we have someone with technical knowledge who can confirm or deny this.

Has the new glideslope setting been changed at all? I assume the touchdown point is cotrolled by this

Air Supply in Yeadon closed it's doors for the last time over the weekend. It's owner Ken Cothliffe has decided to retire. The Air Supply website is going to carry on as normal.

http://www.airsupply.co.uk

The shop was originally opened by two air traffic controllers back in 1988. It's sad that Ken hasn't found anybody suitable to take the shop on.

I would like to add my thanks to Ken for his excellent service over the years. May he enjoy a long retirement.

[textarea]Leeds-Bradford Airport boss to speak

Leeds-Bradford International Airport boss John Parkin will discuss transport issues and plans for developing LBIA with Bradford property experts.

He is one of the speakers at the next meeting of the Bradford Property Forum, to be held at the Aagrah Midpoint Suite, Thornbury, on Wednesday, November 11.

Former Bradford Lord Mayor and chamber of commerce leader Richard Wightman, who is now president of the Yorkshire and Humber Chambers of Commerce, will also speak at the meeting.

I notice a post on the LBA Thomas Cook thread about a full flight from LBA to Sharm el Sheikh having problems.

As a matter of interest how many weekly flights in total (by all airlines) are there from LBA to Sharm this winter?

Does anyone know how many Lapland flight's we have this year and who is going to operate them?

Local Yokel, I think we only have a Jet2 and the TCX and I am not sure if the latter operates all winter or not. Anway, 2 max I think.

Sorry Jasond4, I am not sure, but you can sometimes find out the dates of flights on the airport web site (but not the carriers).

It's not exactly been the busiest day of the year but it was good to see so many intercontinentals on the board at the same time...

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
