Excellent work on the timetable again lbaspotter. Much appreciated. One question though. Are the following flights still due to be operated that are carry overs from the Winter Timetable?

29/3/15 - 10:00 Enter Air departure to Kiruna
5/4/15 - 18:00 Enter Air arrival from Enontekio

Cheers.

lbaspotter: Jet2 not helping you, just had advise LS185 and LS186 flight times for May have moved, LS186 reverted to 14.15 return, assume 7am going out as last year. Our LS185 early May only moved 5 minutes at 9.35

Don't worry about it "Tarn Spotter" I've already started working on a 3rd edition due to some minor schedule changes been made by Ryanair this week. Now I better start checking for them Jet2 flights schedule changes as well!

Airports such as Leeds-Bradford are being punished by unfair tax regime, warn MPs

LEEDS-Bradford and other smaller airports are punished by a tax regime more unfair than any country other than Chad, MPs warn today.

Air Passenger Duty (APD) is the “principal threat” to the success of regional airports which are vital for economic growth, a hard-hitting report by the transport select committee says.

Edition 3 of the summer 2015 timetable is now online. Several schedule changes have recently been made by Ryanair, Monarch and Jet2. All the end of season ski flights been operated to Geneva, Salzburg and Chambery by both Jet2 and Easyjet in April have been added along with the missing Enter Air flight to/from Kiruna in April as pointed out by Big-Man and lastly Jet2's first New York charter that operates in October.

Here's hoping it won't have to be revised yet again in next few days.

I've just checked flight only prices for New York between October 25th to October 29th for me parents as they want to go over for their wedding anniversary this year. I was amazed with the prices some of the airlines are charging.

Below example bookings were for 1x passenger with 1x checked-in bag in economy seats.

United Airlines = MAN-EWR-MAN = £1,176
Delta Airlines = MAN-JFK-MAN = £1,125.38p
American Airlines = MAN-JFK-MAN = £1,126
Thomas Cook Airlines = MAN-JFK-MAN = £662.98p
British Airways = LBA-LHR-JFK-LHR-LBA = £610
KLM = LBA-AMS-JFK-AMS-LBA = £1,455.49p
Aer Lingus = LBA-DUB-JFK-DUB-LBA = £626.87p
Jet2.com = LBA-EWR-LBA = £621.60p

Now should they pick Jet2 and fly direct from LBA on a Boeing 757-200 or either go with British Airways or Aer Lingus who use wide bodied aircraft on there Trans Atlantic services?

hi lbaspotter
NOT JET2 there seats are far too hard for that length of flight and no inflight entertainment.

For me a flight is a bum on a seat that gets me to wherever I need to be and back in one piece. A flight that is as direct as possible is always a bonus for me and there's little in it between Jet2, BA and Aer Lingus so I'd pick Jet2 in this instance if the dates suit. Each to their own though and I can understand the hard seat problem but what's a couple extra hours on a Jet2 when you've already done the usual four to Tenerife or Turkey? A splash and dash at Halifax Nova Scotia to stretch the feet might work out quite well.

I was thinking along the lines as you Aviador. Better using the direct option instead of having waste time to change aircraft at either LHR or DUB, even if it means you got to sit for 6+ hours on a Jet2 Boeing 757. If you get a saw bum you can still go for a walk up and down the cabin.

Also It's not often you hear people saying you've flown direct from Leeds to New York!

I would definitely be tempted for the Jet2 option, however hasn't Jet2's NYC service had a few diversions in the previous years? and they fly into EWR which some pax may prefer JFK they would be my only concern. If not Jet2, probably Aer Lingus or BA, if the times and dates was right, I would also consider Thomas Cook from MAN, however would try/prefer to use LBA whenever possible.

hi all
I wonder how todays news of the murders of 19 people in Tunisia including 17 tourists will effect the bookings and flights.

Life is full of risks these days. Sadly a terrorist attack here right on our doorstep is probably just as likely as a terrorist attack in Europe or the so-called safer parts of North Africa.

Having flown on an 8 hour flight across the pond on a 757....go with the BA or Aer Lingus option. Wasn't the nicest of experiences, and that's with a full service operator.

I've flown both the 757 direct MAN-JFK with delta and indirect BA LBA-LHR-JFK using A319/744. To be honest they are pretty much the same comfort seat wise. I personally would choose to go with BA or EI and not on the Jet2. Free drinks, food and good IFE on BA (never flown EI). An added bonus on the 744 in economy is if you book in advance you can sit at the rear of the aircraft where the fuselage gets thinner meaning only 2 seats together. Not having anybody next to you is an added pleasure if you ask me.

EI also have the pre clearance at DUB something BA and jet2 cannot offer!

Two years ago we sat on a 757 at LBA due to snow for 5 hours, then flew 3 hours to malaga. Have to say I felt as comfortable in the seats after 8 hours as I would have done after 3 hours.
We only got two glasses of water in the 5 hours as well. To be fair to Jet2 the captain did advise that as too off load us and reload would be 90 minutes, enough time to miss any window to take off. I had FR24 on my phone and could see all the flights circulating trying to land as well.
It was the wind blowing the snow, not actual snow fall, bouncing down with rain in malaga.

Looks like the airport is going to be in the news for all the wrong reasons yet again tomorrow morning. As BBC Radio Leeds is having a debate on the Liz Green Breakfast show about passengers having to pay £1 to be able to smoke air-side.

Is it fair that smokers have to pay to have a cigarette once they're air-side at Leeds Bradford Airport?
It's just £1 - but is that taking advantage of smokers' addiction?
Comment below, and tune in to Liz Green, back Thursday from 6am 92.4fm or http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioleeds

I suppose it wont take long for the Yorkshire Evening Post to have its say as well!

Since smoking in the terminal is illegal, I presume LBA have had to fork out to create a dedicated area for the smokers to go. It seems inevitable therefore they will want to recover their costs and make a profit with it. There is no doubt either that the airports cleaning costs will also increase as a result of having to clean the smoking area. I presume that the charge is to enter the area - and I expect people will just stay in there and do their thing - certain that some will be chain smoking in there!

Shame that a paper that I used to respect has nothing better to print. There was a time when it supported LBA but now they just seem keen to stick the boot in whenever they can. LBA were under no obligation to create a smoking area. Having spent the money on creating it and cleaning it, they are perfectly entitled to make a small charge to get their money back. Nobody is forcing anyone to use it - just the same as the car park. Customers have a choice. Non story as far as I am concerned.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
