What a complete and utter mess that departure board is...its embarrasing!

In what way? Do you mean because of the Indefinite Delays?

Yes, and the top 2 flights both LV flights to Jeddah, tell me why is the 12.30 departure below the 19.30 departure? Do we really have 3 scheduled LV flights to Jeddah in the same day? and just the general lack of destinations is poor.

Thats the way the departure board works when a flight is carried over from the previous day. The 19.30 flight was from Friday, the 12.30 flight from saturday and all departures after the PIA are sunday. Obviously because of the delay to the first flight every further flight has had a knock on delay, and as you pointed out, the screen looks a complete mess, but I guess there is no other way to display the information.

Somehow, I can't help but wonder if these flights would have operated on time should they have been contracted to a reputable airline, with a fleet that can accomodate such flights. I feel so sorry for some of my ex colleagues, as Jet2 ground operations are handling all the jeddah flights, thankfully they are not going out full but i would imagine 160 pilgrims would be hard enough to explain a 24 hour delay to!

I don't suppose Abanian will be getting any more charter contracts any time soon! I presume that the Friday flight did go on Saturday and the Saturday flight on Sunday. Presumably the Sunday will be tomorrow. What a total mess!

I am not aware of any evidence that this is a disreputable airline but I understand and empathise with the point you are making.

The problem seems to be the sub-letting of the flights to Eagle Aviation. The airline has just been in liquidation and certainly LBA and the fuellers won't play ball without upfront payments. According to the DSA web site, the aircraft landed at DSA before coming to LBA which added to the originsal 17 hr delay.

Eagle Aviation Europe (now Noor Airways) and Albanian Airlines are owned by the same French company, Evsen Group. The [French] AOC for the sole [purchased] 757 (F-GTIP) was only issued last Wednesday. They also have a 744 awaiting addition to the AOC. Noor Airways will [eventually] operate all flights on a French AOC based in Tirana for Albanian Airlines. Eagle Aviation Europe was borne from the former management of the defunct Eagle Airways, the management being replaced after Evsen bought the company which was a prerequisite for the French authorities to issue an AOC. Technically (and legally) this is a new airline, starting commercial flying only a few days ago, not one that has been in liquidation. The Evsen Group have also wet leased a 757 and 737 from Air Slovakia to be operated on behalf of Albanian Airlines.

More problems this evening...

It appears that Jeddah has refused permission for the aircraft to land there hence the latest delays. The plot thickens.

The LBA website now shows the flight as:

DELAYED PROCEED TO GATE 7

It appears that the flight has been cancelled. Can anyone confirm this?

pax put up in hotel. The flight is due to depart this morning at 0800. The flight originally due to depart at 0530 is now apparently departing around 1800, but i suppose we'll see.

Hi all,
Dose anyone know what the work is being carried out at the 32 threshold? I know
there has been some work on the ILS Glidepath.but this dose not seem to be connected.

My thoughts are that there are either moving back the threshold further down the runway which would help aircraft on landing on CATIII autolands when the weather is bad or there are installing some new runway lighting

The only work that I am aware of at the moment is to improve drainage at the sides of the runway. I had heard that some lighting cables were going to be replaced over the winter period but this wont involve moving the threshold.

Has anyone seen the new route map on the wall just to the right of International Arrivals? Looks brilliant

Yes it's good but I would have liked to have seen the destinations a bit more prominent because when your stood back from it, it just looks like a map on the wall. It's good to see the Caribbean and Pakistan on the map though.

Yes, i agree it looks good, isnt it amazing how such little things such as this helps to try make our airport look more attractive. The airport should think the same and do more of this sort of thing to help improve their image.

On another note, something i was thinking the other day, i wonder if anyone from the airport management or directive ever look on these sort of forums (or maybe even join!), to see what people think? I think it would be a great way of feedback...it would be ideal IMO. What you think?

A senior figure known to me at another midsize UK regional airport visits this site and takes on board the content though he is not a member and does not contribute.

He does contribute to another aviation forum, somewhat larger than forums4airports, so you never know who might turn up on here in the future if this site continues its welcome growth as I have every reason to believe it will.

If and when the airport finally manage to get a half decent web site in place that is actually kept up to date, it would be nice to have a version of this route map on there too rather than the current, rather poor, list of destinations.

A news item in this mornings Business Post suggest that there will be a service to the USA in 2012,and that talks are to be held with several US airlines.

I would of thought a connection to the USA would be here before 2012 IMO, in fact if not LBA's number 1 priority in terms of new routes. Did it mention which US airlines?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
