The Southampton flight has just departed ok as normal, apart from the fact that there was a problem initally because the flight plans had all been suspended.

Could Eastern perhaps give Belfast a bash? An ER145 would be ideal for the route if they could do at least 3 a day.

Given that Jet2 have clearly canned Prague in order to release a crate for the new routes, if they did do Belfast, would this not mean that something else would need to be chopped in its place? My only thought is that Eastern may have more spare aircraft, and the more I think about it, an ER170 would be even better.

Jet2 would probably operate in Aldergrove. I think 737 is too big, this route is suited to smaller aircraft with frequent rotations.

I just assumed that the 737-300 might struggle, if BA operate A320's then it should be OK. Not sure how field performance really compares though.

Also, Jet2 always operated into Aldergrove, there must have been a good reason for this as Im sure they would have gone into City airport if they could.

City airport has time restrictions. It's not 24/7 like Aldergrove is.

I'd be interested to know how Belfast compares to Amsterdam in terms of passenger numbers given that FlyBe had 3/4 flights a day from LBA and Amsterdam obviously has both KLM and Jet2 operating the route. They're similar in terms of flight time & distance so could a Jet service 2 or 3 daily stand on the route whether that be Jet2 or anyone else??

I put the 2018 stats on the flybe thread - 160k or so pax pr annum so be in no doubt this route will be snapped up!

Might be 2x ATR72's shortly as it looks like Eastern Airways may have lost the Oil Contracts out of Aberdeen.

They also have at least 1x Embraer 145 spare after losing the Rodez - Paris contract flying in January, that aircraft tends to operate mainly charter work based out of Humberside now. They have just put Embraer 170, G-CIXW back into service along with re-introducing the 4th Saab 2000, G-CDEB back into the fleet.

Embraer 170 G-CIXW(Eastflight 042P) is just positioning into Leeds fro Humberside(1230).
Note it is usuing a psotioning call-sign rather than the 05/06 call sign of its previous visits recently

Wonder if they are getting the Embraer 170 into service on the Leeds/Bradford - Southampton route to increase capacity now they have no competition from Manchester, Newcastle and the whole of Scotland?

Or have they stolen a march and about to jump onto the Leeds - Belfast City route?

The Embraer 170 is operating the Southampton flight this afternoon.
Guess makes sense as a lot of passengers will be wanting to get from Southampton to Noth of UK.
At least if you get to LBA it is part of the way :)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
