Sad…another airline gone and now less routes within the UK.
Very sad. I know a few people who will be having sleepless nights over this and wondering how they’ll pay the mortgage. There is some hope that the jetstream operations will recommence quite quickly but as they’ve effectively all stopped flying for the time being it feels like this is false hope.

But Eastern are survivors, I am hoping they have a plan.

I’ve never known them to stop flying, even in their more troubled times in the past.. But something tells me he has something up his sleeve as I understand he’s handed some of the assets over to a successor in the family. Be nice to see them continue with the more lucrative stuff and the rest gets ripped out, like the massive overheads they presumably have due to the failed KLM contract.

Indeed. As aviation enthusiasts whilst we bemoan the loss of another airline and the routes that go with it it’s easy for us to overlook the human cost when one goes under.

And that's now the LGW-NQY PSO gone to Skybus (no actual surprise in my book) but also probably a logical move as they based in the right area.

if per chance T3 do resurrect I am not sure what will be left for them. Possibly ABZ services that they previously operated.

Or may be a 4 a/c J41 base at LBA 😜 not

Newquay-Gatwick will be operated by a Blue Islands ATR until they have an IOS Skybus branded ATR which will be leased from Aurigny. Aurigny have a Twin Otter leased from Skybus entering service soon, so nice co-operation from the SW based airlines. Skybus MD is Johnathan Hinkles who many of us will remember from his LBA spotting days many years ago

I suspect that we would have had a better chance of Newquay if Eastern were around.
I wouldn’t be too sure. There was no love lost between LBA management and Eastern. Remember that Eastern did fly NQY post-Covid before their unceremonious departure from LBA after an aircraft was impounded !

Based on the recent Blue Islands arrival, anything could happen!

Eastern will never be around again. There were mutterings of them returning with the Jetstreams under a different guise, but the chances of this now are slim to none as the administrators start to try find buyers for the assets. I understand the AOC might have been of interest to some, but I’m not sure as to re status of this now that they’ve entered formal administration. Some avionics upgrades are being completed as we speak, but I think this is more out of wishful thinking and (ironically) administrator incompetence than of any real will to see the core ops resurrected. Who knows, perhaps they’ll find an operator in Africa who want to put them to some use. Some of the things I’ve heard the administrator have done offer comedy value, hopefully I will be able to share this down the line!

As before, feel so sorry for the staff in all of this as it’s been badly handled all round.

Ditto at Liverpool Airport, I spoke to someone senior a while back, he stated Eastern were difficult to deal with as a business.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
