I’ve had a look at acl reports tonight for stn and man for summer 2020. One thing I noticed is that Ryanair is setting up Ryanair uk to operate new routes to Antalya , dalaman and Bodrum. I wonder if something could be coming bristols way too. Incidentally bristols summer acl report is not currently available

If easyJet is to announce more from BRS in the coming weeks with its easyJet Holidays initiative I was expecting Antalya to be one of the new routes. They operate from Gatwick, Luton and Manchester to Antalya and have operated to both Dalaman and Bodrum from BRS for a number of years in summer. Dalaman will be 4 x weekly next summer and Bodrum 3 x weekly. I believe that Dalaman was 3 x weekly in summer 19 with easyJet.

I don't think Thomas Cook's Antalya frequency has yet been fully replaced by TUI.

Not sure if i'd previously missed this or if it's a new route;

Bristol - Brest
Starts 31st March
Tues - 1505 departure
Sat - 1615 departure

The above is showing on the app, not the website.
Bergerac appears to have disappeared from the app but still available on the website (July & Aug)

Brest is a surprising addition for me. When Ryanair opened its BRS base in the autumn of 2007 they had a route to Dinard another Brittany destination and not a million miles from Brest. It only lasted a year before being axed. Dinard reappeared in the Ryanair BRS booking engine for summer 2012 but after a few weeks was withdrawn from sale and didn't operate.

I wonder why Ryanair thinks Brest will work when Dinard didn't. Brest is also shown for the entire summer whereas Bergerac (assuming it will still operate) is July and August only as it has been in recent summers.

I'm fairly confident in saying that BRS has never had a Brest scheduled route before. EXT had one with Flybe for a few years but there were a lot fewer seats to fill.

It seems to me to be a bit of a slot filler where Shannon would have slotted in. I’m surprised by the choice but let’s hope it works

Summer 2020

I did an early count-up for next summer's Ryanair number of rotations each week per month in the main summer period compared with summer 2019. I've included the new Lauda Vienna route because it's bookable in the Ryanair booking engine and one of the two weekly rotations will be operated by a Ryanair aircraft. Brest replaces Shannon at 2 x weekly each month with Shannon also 2 x weekly in summer 2019.

May

124 (+ 2 on 2019) Girona -3, Malaga - 1, Milan MXP + 1, Malta + 1, Krakow + 1, Dublin + 1, Vienna new route + 2

June

132 (+ 3) Girona - 1, Malaga - 1, Milan MXP + 1, Malta + 1, Krakow + 1, Vienna new route + 2

July

138 (+ 6) Alicante - 1, Malaga - 1, Girona + 1, Venice MP + 1, Milan MXP + 1, Cologne + 1, Malta + 1, Krakow + 1, Vienna new route + 2

August

138 (+ 6) Alicante - 1, Malaga - 1, Girona + 1, Venice MP + 1, Milan MXP + 1, Cologne + 1, Malta + 1, Krakow + 1, Vienna new route + 2

September

132 (+ 1) Alicante - 4, Malaga - 1, Girona + 1, Milan MXP + 1, Malta + 1, Krakow + 1, Vienna new route + 2

Out of interest May 2019 was 122 (+ 2 on May 2018), June was 129 (+ 8), July was 132 (+ 10), August was 132 (+ 7), September was 131 (+ 6)

Ryanair has grown a lot in recent winters with for example 15 routes and 55 weekly rotations in 15/16 to 25 routes and 90 weekly rotations in 18/19, but the perception has been of little growth in summer. Although the number of routes hasn't grown as much in summer as in winter it will be seen from the above that there has been a noticeable increase in summer rotations in the past couple of years. In fact, the number of summer rotations has been growing slowly from 27 in summer 2015 to 33 in summer 2019 and at the moment 34 in summer 2020 including the Lauda Vienna route.

It's likely that we shall see some increase in weekly rotations on some of the sun routes as the season approaches if last year is a guide.

Summer 2020

Ryanair have reduced their Leeds-Bradford offering quite substantially for next summer compared with this year. I was also reading on another forum that they have cut back at Prestwick.

Whether this is the beginning of a general trimming of their UK programme for summer 2020 remains to be seen. Will be worth keeping an eye on the BRS situation.

Looking at the deps for BRS and did not realise Ryanair have 4 based aircraft this winter. If im thinking right that is plus 1 from last winter season. If so they kept that quiet.

3x were based for the winter in 2016 & 2017.
4x were based for the winter in 2018 & 2019.

Winter 2019 sees minimal growth vs winter 2018, but this is no bad thing given most UK Ryanair bases have seen cuts.
As Severn points out, there is minimal growth this winter after several successive winters of substantial growth. This winter there will be up to 93 weekly rotations on 27 routes compared with 90 and 25 respectively the previous winter. However, the raw numbers alone are slightly deceptive.

The three new routes this winter are Milan MXP (continuing from summer), and Grenoble and Turin both in the ski season (all three incidentally competing with easyJet). However, Milan MXP effectively replaces Limoges from last winter that reverts to summer-only with Faro apparently giving best to esyJet with Ryanair's Faro not operating between early January and late March whereas easyJet goes daily in February and March and 4 x weekly in January.

With growth at little more than a standstill this winter it must mean that more flights are being operated by BRS-based aircraft. Good for the base bu twith BRS's night noise and night movements quota in summer pushing close to the limits more 'away-based' aircraft would actually be an operational help from those perspectives as they tend to operate more outside the critical night time period.

Just booked PMI to Bristol with Ryanair for April for £19.00 one way including the seat selection! Ryanair prices can be silly!

Due to the 737 max delays, RyanAir have written to staff that there may be job losses and base closures.

I haven't heard any whispers that BRS might be affected seriously. Have you?

Sunday 2 February 2020

BRS website and Ryanair booking engine is showing tomorrow morning's Venice flight going to Treviso. After that the Ryanair booking engine is back to Venice MP.

easyJet's Venice flight tomorrow is showing MP on the airport website departure board so I don't know why Ryanair is off to Treviso instead.

Could they be taking Italian rugby fans home after the international in Cardiff. Beneton Treviso is one of the teams in the Pro14 competition.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
