Significant reductions in frequencies n April may and June across the board. Still no chania , Seville , Malta and cologne not on sale
I think that the optimism around last autumn that summer 2021 would see a big bounce in passenger numbers is now receding, at least until the second half of summer. The likely vaccine rollout delay across Europe and unease about new virus variants is clearly slowing recovery with quarantining and more border controls here and abroad adding to the uncertainty.

I presume that frequency reductions are the result of booking patterns or perhaps anticipated booking patterns, maybe both.

Yesterday I submitted a post about easyJet in the Airline forum concerning that airline's key Christmas quarter results that don't make for pleasant reading. The report said that there is pent-up demand ahead after March but that customers are booking late because of Covid uncertainty. This is no doubt reflected across other airlines and until much of the recovery uncertainty is removed it's hard to see things changing quickly.

Anyone make sense of latest news about Ryanair cancelling all flights except out of Stansted? What in Brexit OLeary is that?

I think it's all routes to non-EU destinations and UK domestic destinations, other than from STN, that are being cancelled if reports are true.

BRS hasn't any Ryanair routes to non-EU destinations and there are certainly no Ryanair domestic routes from BRS.

It's flights to non EU destinations like Marrakech and Kiev and UK domestic flights. At Stansted there are G reg aircraft that can operate these routes. Ryanair are refusing to register 50% of their aircraft in the UK to G reg in a spat with the CAA. So every other base will only have EU reg aircraft so can only operate GB-EU.

Cologne now on sale for this summer. Still no Malta , chania or rzezsow tho
Nor Seville in my web booking engine. Cologne is a strange one. It seemed to have been axed before the pandemic hit the world.

With most airlines adding routes and restarting others, its a very much dependent on covid 19 at all airports.

Rzeszow , Malta and Seville removed from drop down list on the app

Malta back on sale for winter 21/22
Very odd that Malta is still not showing for this summer. Until a month or two ago when MLA was removed from the BRS booking engine it had been showing an increase to 4 x weekly.

Looking at the dropdown list of UK airports for Ryanair flights to Malta, all except BRS and BFS are showing booking availability for this summer (BFS currently not even showing for next winter either), albeit some routes don't begin until July. The following UK airports are bookable to MLA this summer at the moment:

BHX, BOH, EMA, EDI, LBA, LPL, LTN ,MAN and STN.

I'm intrigued about the reason why Ryanair has apparently decided to ignore the entire south-west corner of Britain to Malta this summer. It wasn't so long ago that Ryanair was happy to compete with both Air Malta and Thomas Cook on the summer BRS-MLA route with 5 x weekly in total. Now there are no flights with either Ryanair or anyone else from BRS, CWL or EXT.

The nearest are from BHX and BOH.

Seville also back on sale
It looks as though Ryanair have seen off easyJet from the Seville route with the Ryanair booking engine showing 2 x weekly this summer and next winter. easyJet booking engine is still showing 'no direct flights' when a test booking is attempted for BRS-SVQ.

Rzezsow also returning for winter 21/22. Plus there will be flights to both Marco Polo and Treviso next winter too

I can’t seem to see Seville available to book for this summer although the desktop site has been changing all day. Seville remains on the easyJet app as does Vienna although there is no schedule to book

Seville has gone again for summer - it was there a couple of hours ago. Unprecedented times for aviation as it is for everything else, so I suppose we must expect and accept uncertainty in so many things until the pandemic really is under control.

Further to my above post, I still don't understand why Ryanair seems intent on ignoring the large Malta market from south-west Britain this summer.

Looking at 2019, admittedly the whole year and not all were Ryanair passengers, this was the total number of passengers from each of the three airports (to the nearest 000).

BRS 71,000
CWL 26,000
EXT 24,000

The airports from which Ryanair is operating to Malta this summer carried these total passengers numbers in 2019.

MAN 238,000
STN 116,000
LTN 115,000
BHX 90,000
EMA 63,000
EDI 59,000
LBA 57,000
LPL 35,000
BOH 33,000

BFS is the other UK airport shown in the Ryanair Malta dropdown list but not operating in summer 2021. BFS carried 35,000 passengers in 2019.

With the schedules constantly changing it’s hard to see any gaps where maybe a Malta slot could be allotted. I also find it very strange that Ryanair has also dropped chania which is its only Greek route and given the fact that it’s the eastern med that is predicted to be the winner this summer ( if we are allowed), it would seem odd to drop it.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
