Re: Passenger Figures Update
That doesn't seem to be a large increase taking into account the Ryanair ops this year.

LBA amongst the first group of airports to be featured in the CAA provisional stats for May.
253,216 passengers handled, up 4.4% on May 2009, with atms up 4.9%.
Rolling 12-month to end of May 2010 is 2,530,041, down 6% on a year ago.

Up to March this year 2.5 million passengers used the airport and the figures are predicted to increase to 3.3 million by March next year.
3.3 million passengers through a terminal that cannot cope with 2.5 million passengers. Great planning there Mr Parkin

A small airport like LBIA is stupid if they let Ryanair walk all over them, which so far they have. Just wait til 2013 when the deal is up, they will do exactly the same as what they have done at Manchester, Valencia, Marseille, Weeze and so on...
Mr Parkin talks so much rubbish, everyone on here seems to think the sun shines out his arse, but I’m afraid it doesn't. People who do not work within the airport probably do not see to what extent the airport is such a farce, Parkin and Bridgepoint will up sticks at the best possible time for them, most likely when the airport gets 3.3 million (he likes that figure a LOT) .... how fantastic does it sound: LBIA 3.3 mppa, passenger numbers increasing by 700,000 a year, planning permission granted.... and oh yes and a £200 million price tag. He has a very clever way of polishing a turd and being able to sell it for a fortune. He did well at Newcastle and Bristol, as compared to LBIA they had the financial backing to turn the places around. Bridgepoint? Who had ever heard of them before they went for LBIA? Yes a few people, but not many. They are here to make a quick few million, which so far hasn't worked out. I bet anything that they will dispose of LBIA as soon as possible.
White Heather you mentioned 'no pain, no gain' - have you been in security and departures on a weekend? The air conditioning doesn't work, the place is a fire risk, escalators don't work - and the ones that do constantly break down as they are overloaded. The departure lounge (if you can call it that) has lost 90 yes 90 seats to accommodate the 'Premiere Lounge' - what a joke. Does no one see that the terminal is NOT going to change in the foreseeable future! Why spend money to refurbish and extend the executive lounge when (according to Parkin) by this time next year the terminal will be well under way - supposedly right where the new premiere lounge is. I’d like to see how this talk of a 3rd Ryanair aircraft will work out, there are not enough gates at LBIA and we are not even into August yet. No parking stands for another Ryanair aircraft – The only light at the end of the tunnel is that Jet2 are going self handling for baggage and busses – meaning from October no airport or Servisair involvement in anything. No more ‘Ryanair takes preference rubbish’
I feel really annoyed writing all this, I’ve supported the airport and try my best when at work to look at the positives, but honestly there are very few. The way the airport is getting more passengers, all well and good but Christ, I bet half of them will go straight back to Manchester after the ‘fantastic’ user experience at LBIA.
