I think it is time Thomas Cook got adventurous and based a 757 at LBA for the summer. I am sure we could use some additional capacity and its a good way of boosting passenger numbers without having to increase aircraft movements. Having said that, the additional passengers may need to bring along fold up chairs for the International Departure Lounge!

Is this just LBA or have they axed it from other airports too?

After a rather quiet year last winter for ski flights, I did wonder if this was the right year to launch a new ski route.

Looking in the travel agents windows in Leeds city centre, everything on offer was ex Manchester. If only Leeds could realise its potential in relation to the IT market or in other words, getting TUI back.

According to the airport web site, ths Sofia route is now scheduled to operate from winter 2011, so obviously put back one year. At least it is still on the horizon and not cancelled for good.

Direct to Bridgetown on a Boeing 767-300? Is that a change of heart by the airline or could they be using the new Boeing 787's on the those flights?

Thomson Airways have now reduced capacity on its 767 fleet plus they have made the addition of the winglets. The older 767-300 will leave the fleet in the coming months, eventually replaced by the 787. They are keeping most of the ex First Choice "newer" 767 aircraft.
They still have afew 767's that have over 300 seats, these get used in the summer on high density leisure routes short/medium haul.

I imagine if its going direct, it will be at reduced capacity and all come down to the weather on the day and the crew.

is there any airlines eyeing up the old thomsonfly aircraft yet then? :wink@

Didn't Thomson manage to get the 767 direct from LBA to Barbados even without the addition of the winglets? I'm sure they did. Shame a couple of the flights aren't being operated by TCX like last year to give us a bit of variety.

Maybe TCX will operate a flight for Fred Olsen? They usually do one each year, or has it been dropped this time?

Didn't the wonderful Thomson fly to Barbados via Man on several ocassions, and not go out direct? I also seem to remember one return flight terminate at MAN.

I dont know if the 763 has managed it direct in the last few years, if it did then it will not have had 300 passengers on it lol. However, when we had the 762 it managed several destinations direct. No probs.

The 763 did make it non stop to Barbados last year. Not sure how many times or how many passengers it had on board.

I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
