Hi

It looks like LBA is to have a second weekly Sharm el sheikh service for next winter 2010/11 season to compliment the Friday Jet2 service.Thomson Holidays have announced a new Tuesday flight. The flight is now on sale and is to operate as follows by Thomson Airways

Tuesdays 04 November to 21 April
LBA 08:00 SHH 15:25
SHH 16:25 LBA 20:25

The holiday company is also be offering a weekly flight to Tenerife on a Friday again operated by Thosmon Airways operating as follows

Fridays 07 November to 24 April
LBA 10:10 TFS 14:35
TFS 15:35 LBA 20:05

Once again Thomson Airways also plans to operate the Chambery ski flight on behalf of Crystal Holidays next winter season on Saturdays

December 2010 – April 2011
CMF 13:25 LBA 14:25 TOM3614
LBA 16:00 CMF 19:00 TOM3615

Meanwhile the airline/tour operator looks like it has decided to drop it's winter weekly service to Alicante for next winter. But i guess we all saw that one coming as both Jet2 and ryanair already operate the Alicante route all year round from LBA.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that LBASpotter. They appear to be doing something similar from Durham Tees Valley too. Lets hope they actually happen and don't get the chop if the flights are not half full by next week!
SSH seems a bit odd given that TCX apparently scrapped their flights due to lack of interest (although they are of course still shown as operating on the airport web site). Hopefully TOM will do better.

Looking on the positive side, I suppose that anything new or different from TOM from LBA is a good thing as quite often they look as though they are heading for a total withdrawal.

Most likley the likes of Jet2 with a Chartered B737 or B757 and so on. We have seen the likes of Thomson Airways, bmi british midland, First Choice, Hamburg Airlines and others do these flights in the past.

I guess we will find out at a closer date to these actually happening.

it looks like tenerife is doing well with the flights from leeds, i make it 5 a week including jet2. its a shame gran canaria and fuetreventura dont have any or little flights from leeds.

Interestingly the LS flight is scheduled to be 5 hours 30 which is about right for Sharm. TCX 6 hours 15.

So it could be error on their system? typo? or a valid flight..... lets hope for the latter!

Untill you said that, i thought its got to be an error... Flight time LBA - SSH is normally 5hr 35mins, obviously head/tail winds may take their course en-route on that timing.

I am sure someone said earlier this week that the Thomas Cook charter to SSH next winter had been axed? Can anyone confirm? Since the above brochure covers an entire year, it is possible that it has been but retained for the summer. I guess the only way is to try and book and see what happens!

Hi

I can now comfirm that Thomson Airways will be part basing an aircraft at LBA operating for 2 days a week next winter 2010/11 season.

Thomson Holiday have rescheduled the LBA Egypt-Sharm el sheikh flight from operating on tuesdays to a Thursday. Meanwhile the Tenerife flight will remain to be operated on Fridays. The aircraft will position in empty from Norwich on a Wednesday evening and then position out to Teeside on a Friday evening.

Wednesday
NWI 21:00 LBA 21:50 TOM9428
Thursday
LBA 08:00 SSH 15:25 TOM612
SSH 16:25 LBA 20:25 TOM613
Friday
LBA 10:10 TFS 14:35 TOM3530
TFS 15:35 LBA 20:05 TOM3531
LBA 20:50 MME 21:20 TOM9619

Meanwhile the Chambery ski flight operated on behalf of Crystal Ski Holidays will continue to be operated by Thomson Airways with a W-Legged Aircaft from another base.

Saturday
CMF 13:25 LBA 14:25 TOM3614
LBA 16:00 CMF 19:00 TOM3615

Winter does not `seem` to be looking as bleak as we all first expected. With this from TOM, possible new routes from Ryanair after their base has fully got going, LS rumoured to have some new winter flights under their sleeve and AF/KLM looking to upgrade their current service or introduce something new, it could be a very busy ramp next winter...

Really good news to report - New Winter ski route from LBA

Balkan Holidays have just added a new winter ski route from Leeds/Bradford Airport for next winter season with a weekly service to Sofia in Bulgaria.

Flights will be operated by Balkan Holiday Air with an Airbus A320 and commences from Sunday, December 19th, 2010 and runs until Sunday, April 9th 2011, The flight arrives LBA at 12:45 and then later departs back out at 13:45

Excellent news.

It has been a long time coming. I could never understand why Balkan operated from here in Summer but never looked at the ski flights in the winter before now.

Excellent news. Thanks to Eastcoaster for his original post on the Balkan Holidays thread, nice scoop!

P&O Cruises have announced there Direct winter 2010/11 Carribbean services from LBA as follows.

Cruise = Panama Canal
Ship = Oceana
Outbound = November 8th 2010 - Leeds/Bradford to Bridgetown-Barbados
Inbound = November 23rd 2010 - Acapulco-Mexico to Leeds/Bradford

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cruise = Caribbean
Ship = Ventura
Outbound = January 13th 2011 - Leeds/Bradford to Bridgetown-Barbados
Inbound = January 29th 2011 - Bridgetown-Barbados to Leeds/Bradford

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cruise = Caribbean
Ship = Azura
Outbound = February 19th 2011 - Leeds/Bradford to Bridgetown-Barbados
Inbound = March 6th 2011 - Bridgetown-Barbados to Leeds/Bradford

And before anyone asks me. I have'nt a clue as to who or which airlines and aircraft they are using yet.

It was posted on the Thomas Cook forum that for winter 2010/11 TCX would be taking allocations on Jet2.com services, however after playing with the Thomas Cook website it seems to be very similar to this winter;

Thursday - Arrecife operated by Thomas Cook Airlines
Friday - Tenerife operated by Thomas Cook Airlines
Saturday - Fuerteventura operated by Thomas Cook Airlines
Sunday - Monatir (until mid november 2010 and from early March 2011) operated by Thomas Cook Airlines

So it looks like the part based aircraft is still at LBA. I'd have thought Thomas Cook could base it week round by adding the following;

Monday - Las Palmas
Tuesday - Antayla/Dalaman
Wednesday - Paphos/Larnaca
Saturday - add Grenoble or Lyon on a morning for some ski flights.

So its not looking to bad so far. What do the rest of you think???

To be honest I don't think it will have much affect on Jet2, my best friends girlfriend is a travel agent for Thomson and they get £1 per passenger they put through Doncaster over Manchester, so clearly pressure selling is required to fill the Doncaster flights as Leeds Bradford will be most peoples natural choice in Yorkshire. Thomson have virtually no market at LBA because of their presence at Doncaster and i'm sure it will be a welcome choice for Yorkshire folk who always travel on Thomson Holidays to fly from Leeds Bradford.

Its great to see the winter charters on the up! Kind of Ironic that over winter we will see a Thomson 757 and Thomas Cook A320 parked next to each other, more than we get in bloody summer!!

Lets hope then that it isn't a winter like this one has been!

Does anyone know what is operating the Balkan Ski flight to Sofia? Will it be the usual Balkan Holidays (own airline) A320?

Lets hope that this part basing of a TOM aircraft is a foot in the door and that we will see a fully based aircraft in the not too distant future. Having said that, there is of course plenty of time for TOM to pull their flights which has become a boringly frequent event since they withdrew their LBA base.

Bring Back Britannia!!! :cry:
