Jet2 have downgraded / consolidated a lot of BOJ, but yes think people are reluctant. think Balkan are operating a lot of their UK routes VIA another airport. on another note.. finally LBA have the correct airline operating the BOJ flight.. instead of Biman!

I think that is really good news because for all the amazing things Jet2 do, they must be growing the Bulgaria market from LBA. Perhaps time to see the return of a Varna rotation too!

Very unlikely Varna will be back as tourism is being focused on the more southerly resorts.

Looks like Balkan Holidays Air are using European Air Charter Airbus A320's again this summer 2023 season on its weekly Saturday Bourgas service. I wish they would send us them "Mad-Dog" MD82's which the also own instead.

They used to be known as "Bulgarian Air Charter". All they have done to the aircraft is to change "Bulgarian" to "European".

Balkan Holidays Summer 2024 is now on sale.

The tour operator has recently axed some flights into a few UK airports where it faces stiff competition, but it's increasing flights into smaller UK regional airport. The good news is that LBA has retained its weekly charter flight to Bourgas.

Flights operate Saturday's commencing from May 25th and run until September 21st 2024.

Short season for Balkan is that. Would like to see more from them but i very much doubt. still, netter then nothing.

Who remembers the days when we had both Bourgas and Varna from them? I am sure they were longer seasons then perhaps early May to mid Oct. I am sure our not to be named friends would love a couple of Tu-154s a week too. But as said above, better than nothing and we have escaped any cull so should be thankful for that

Strange how Bulgaria has stagnated. I would have thought sonewhere cheap would have done well at the moment.

I dont think we have ever had Plovdiv from LBA, with any airline. Only Varna and Bourgas by Balkan.

I agree, you would think when money's tight Bulgaria would be a popular destination, yet holidays there are being offered at a discount.

Plovdiv went on sale a few years back , but it was axed before the first flight departed .

Now Sofia might be an option for Wizz Air. As they have a base down there and they use to operate 2/3x weekly into Donny.

Yes, Plovdiv was a ski flight. In fact Sofia also serves ski resorts. I went skiiing to Borovets a few years ago and we flew to Sofia.

Today's inbound is the last of the summer 2023 charter flights from Bourgas for European Air Charter/Balkan Holidays.

They return next summer again 1x weekly on Saturdays from May 25th 2024.

Great to see Balkan Holidays announce new winter ski route to Sofia (Bulgaria) operating 1x weekly on Saturdays for 7 weeks between February 1st to March 15th, 2025.
