Codeco also has A310 in the seat map.

PIA really have no idea what they are doing. One minute they are bringing the 777 in, then they're not. At the airport there are still lots of people who are saying the 777 is coming this Saturday on the otherhand there are an increasing number of people saying it is no longer going to come in this weekend. I have no doubt that it was going to come in but I would say its looking like 50/50 now.

Spoke to the LHR manager again and he said the B777 has now been 'delayed indefinitely'.

Apparently the 'spare' B777 is being used and they are unwilling to downgrade another route to an A310.

Ain't saying your lying Lbaspotter, but i really doubt that has actually happened i have had a look on avherald.com and it doesn't say nothing about a PIA aircraft being in a bird strike accident.

Yep it appears the test is now off..

I have heard that one of PIA's other Boeing 777-200ER, AP-BGL has been in a bird strike incident while it was taking off from Khatmandu heading to karachi. So the spare Boeing 777-200ER, AP-BHX aircraft that was due to come to Leeds has now had to go back into normal service as a direct replacement while AP-BGL is been repaired.

Hence this weekends visit to Leeds by Boeing 777-200, AP-BHX has been cancelled for now and the normal scheduled Airbus A310 will be operating the PK775/776 Islamabad service.

You need evidence? Well here you go. This is the news story as reported this morning. Explains everything.

PIA faces severe aircraft fitness issues

KARACHI: A number of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft are out of operations due to unavailability of spare parts, due to which the entire flight schedule of the national flag carrier has been severely disturbed, sources said on Wednesday.

A Boeing 777 aircraft is parked at Kathmandu Airport, another Boeing 777 is parked at the Karachi Airport, while a Boeing 747, three Airbus A310, three Boeing 737 and two ATR aircraft are non-operational, reducing the fleet to 28 planes, they said.

A flight PK267 Karachi to Dacca via Kathmandu would take the spare parts to Kathmandu for the Boeing 777, the sources said. Sultan Hasan, PIA spokesman, said that a Boeing 777 was hit by a bird in Kathmandu and it would be flying again in a day or two. Besides, there were a couple of planes under schedule maintenance, which is a regular feature of any airline.

Malik Tariq, a former PIA flight engineer, said that the current management is repeating the same mistake as in 2006, when the then management limited itself to just one parts vendor and faced a ban in the European Union by 2007.

“A front-man company, Transworld Aviation FZE, is the sole parts supplier of PIA at the moment. This company based in Dubai has no prior experience of this business and has also been denied supply of parts by the OEMs.” “That is the reason that PIA is short of spare parts and its planes are getting non-operational, causing cancellation of flights and delays,” said Malik.

The former PIA flight engineer sharply criticised this practice and said that no airline in the world kept just one vendor.

The non-supply of parts from Transworld has compelled the airline management to ground a Boeing 737 and an Airbus for unidentified period to take out some spares and make other planes serviceable, despite an agreement with the Dubai-based company, which offered a $700 million credit line, which does not seem providing any benefit to the empty stores of the national flag carrier.

Good old PIA, looking at that news paper report, who would want to fly with PIA!!! they seem to have more aircraft that are unusable then they have in service!!!!!
Their maintenance seems some what unreliable too .... How do they survive with the amount of aircraft out of operation.....

Looks like we will have to wait until April to see if the T7 ever makes a trip in to Leeds....

Well folks I was asked to find out today from the airport directors whether the 777 was coming on Saturday or not, but in the meantime it seems that it has become known thatthe answer is a definite 'NOT'

However, it has not been cancelled due to bird strikes or non operational aircraft, it was not coming anyway. There were some discussions about it coming on the 10th at one point, so the rumour no doubt came from there, but it was never agreed. LBA's director today, said it will be coming, they are waiting for a date, they require one months notice before it does (to mobilise air stairs and various other equipment which he stated is NOT already at LBA) and when it is coming, it WILL be publicised, although he did ask the airport secretary to let me know in advance when it is going to happen.

Hopefully they will wait a few more months, meaning when it does come it will be light, which makes for a better viewing experience.

See Aviation Hearld link below, another incident involving PIA 747 on Saturday!!

I do wonder what their fleet will look like in say 2 years time. That's if they survive that long. You never know, Jet2 might have banged a 767 on the route by then, or even Shaheen come back.

shaheen - couple of A330's, leased.

LBA - Islamabad - 4 x times a week
LBA to Karachi - 3 x times a week

Now that would be brill.

Although unlikely

Are you sure about that Concorde Lover?

I remember when Shaheen were last at LBA. They make PIA look professional.

Ive been told by the Security Agency that looks after the PIA flights that PIA are 99% sure that they are bringing in a T7 on the 8th Feb. Also to add to this, slots have been filed for with a T7 into Leeds instead of the A310.

All ill say is ill believe it when i see it...

EXS2592

I'd heard the same but wasn't going to mention it after all the other false rumours. The same Security Agency told me the previously rumoured date was totally unsubstantiated and that it was never scheduled for that date at all.

We'll see....

Well I'll believe when I see the T7 at LBA.

By way if I remember correctly, I thought somebody from the airport's management were going to inform fellow forum Member White heather if and when it was going to happen and also publicise the fact that PIA would sending the T7 to LBA.

Have you heard anything about this Heather?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
