I do seem to remember Heather saying the airport would let people know but I expect with the way PIA operate they may not wish to inform people until the last minute themselves in case PIA let them down.

But Aviador if I also remember correctly White Heather did say that the Airport Management will be informed at least 1 month in advance by PIA if they are going to scheduled a T7 into LBA.

So if its true that its happening this time around surely the airport are still going to inform her. Otherwise that is another false promise made in the Consultative Committee meeting which will also be noted on paper and we will be able to reference this if not informed?

It's the old wait and see thing again as only time will tell.

The Operations Director said that LBA management would require a months notice for the arrival of a 777, and that they would be anxious to publicise such an arrival. He asked the Committee secretary to notify me if/when they got a definite date, although that was after the meeting, so would not be minuted. I have not heard anything on the subject although the proposed date is a month away, so if its true, there is still time. Of course, if I find anything out, it will be posted on here.

I have checked with LBA management and as of today they are not aware that PIA have made any arrangements to use a 777 into LBA on any date. There is, I suppose, the possibility they have done so and forgotten to tell LBA (well, it is PIA after all), but at the moment LBA's comment is that this is 'just another rumour'

Well tonight's Islamabad service is well and truly behind schedule, 301 minutes to be precise. The flight departed Islamabad at 1905 (scheduled 1345) and won't be arriving into Leeds until around 2230. Mind you the PIA776 is currently checking in at the airport, poor passengers got 5 and half hours to wait for the aircraft to arrive then another hour and half turn around. Don't suppose anyone knows the reason for it being this late?

The Passengers where told not to turn up to check in until around 2100, therefore not having to wait for 5 hours in the terminal. The reason the A/C was so late in was because, somehow even though all PIA A/C are containerised they ran out of bins in ISB.

Jason1-11 sorry for the late reply, Ive been away from the forum for a while. As to your query, PIA trains their 747/310 crew for Cat 2 and 777 crew for Cat 3. This seems quite logical as their 310's operate to very few airfields where you would expect cat 3 requirements, whereas the 777's are more likely to encounter Cat 3 conditions considering they operate mostly Europe and North America, whilst the 310/747 are mostly limited to Middle East and Far Eastern routes where visibility is usually not so poor.

On the note of where this forum is heading, anyone still think PIA is sending a 777 into LBA?

And on a side, more personal note, could someone tell me how to get from downtown to the airport for spotting which is something Id love to do on one of our stop overs.

PIA stated their intentions to operate a B777 at some point in April, and it has been rumoured a few times that they would use one to operate the LBA-ISB route. aroosh, I find it difficult to believe that PIA will bring in a B777 in the near future as PIA have stated this intention numerous times. I think Leeds Bradford can take a B777 but I'm not sure were abouts it would park.

It would probably park on either Stand 20 or Stand 23 just like an A330 does.

Aroosh, I am a member of the Airport Consultative Committee, and I can advise you that at the last meeting, it was confirmed that LBA are still working with PIA with regard to upgrading the ISB route to a 777, but no date has been given.

As for getting back to LBA from 'down town' - do you stay in a hotel in Leeds or do you have to go to Bradford? From Leeds you get a 757 bus from the railway station, and from Bradford its a 737 or 747, but I haven't a clue where you get them from as I live in Leeds and visit Bradford only rarely.

Just to let you know that The Islamabad service has apparently changed according to LBIA website and flight stats.

Don't want to be too optimistic, but is this to allow the B777 to land in daylight?

I doubt it. Like I mentioned previously, PIA stated that they may bring the B777 at some point in April so its unlikely that it will operate the ISB-LBA-ISB in the near future.

I was too optimistic, AP-BEB has just come over the Lincolnshire coast, according to Flightradar24.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
