I seriously doubt they would go to Doncaster. IF they did happen to leave LBA in the future they would simply go back to Manchester. PM me the stories about the passengers I want a laugh....

It would certainly put an end to all those noise complaints that keep getting LBA bad press.

Maybe this is the airline Donny were talking to? I would be surprised in a way though as Bradford is the obvious place that PIA want to connect to directly, and moving 30 miles away to Donny isn't going to attract passengers. Most I suspect will just head back to MAN, whilst the Donny flights will probably flop, like everything else. Two years down the line there will be no Pakistan flights from Yorkshire again.

Having said that, the hassle that Leeds Council is giving the airport about night time curfew breaches due to the A310 not complying with Db limits, must be finding its way to PIA who must end up wondering if it is worth the hassle. Of course, the onus is on them to be on time and operate with less technical delays, but it may be that they don't have the finances to just replace the A310 with a modern equivalent. To me, the obvious answer is to operate the flight overnight from Pakistan, landing in Leeds in the morning, then there is no risk of breaching the night time curfew.

If that happens heather, can you imagine with all the morning departures, the PIA landing also which needs turning around. It will be turmoil out the front of the terminal, through security and in departures.

No, as they could time it to arrive when very little is coming in, and timed to go back out after the main rush. It always tends to be on the ground a few hours anyway, so that would hardly change. I am sure they could do something rather than risk losing the route.

latest news from the history of pia forum is that the president of pakistan has agreed to the purchase of 40 new aircraft for pia which will also include the replacement for the a310s so we could be seeing a replacement in the near future

Lets hope its a replacment that is capable of being able to fly in and out of LBA without any restrictions! 787 anybody???

This has been covered so many times before. We know that the Boeing 777-200 could operate fully laden flights from LBA to Islamabad. I believe PIA operate a small number of the 200 variants but they are currently tied up on other routes. Operating twice weekly the flight is going out nearly full every week. I am told that passenger were turned away this evening because the flight was full.

As far as i know guys , PK only have two 200LR's in operation and they are used for seriously long haul routes (ie: for their design as LR aircraft) and doubt we will see them untill they get more of the type or indeed the 787. But you are right, the 200 series could operate from LBA fully laden no problem.

Why dont PIA increase the service back to 3 weekly rather than turning passengers away..if the demand is there which it is why not?

Hi all

I know this maybe be going off topic but somebody mentioned a couple days ago on here that PIA was about to order 40 new aircaft. Well according to this artical PIA is still awaiting government approval for the purchase of 27 brand new aircraft not 40 as previously mentioned on here.

I think the 40 mentioned aircarft includes the recently added Short Haul ATR72's and Long Haul Boeing 777's. PIA are currently looking to replace the ageing Boeing 737 and 747's along with the Airbus A310 fleets

PIA seeks govt permission to purchase 27 new planes

LAHORE - PIA management is seeking approval from Pakistan government to purchase 27 new planes and replace its aged fleet to make airline profitable and provide hassle-free service to its passengers, said sources in the airline on Saturday.

It is worth mentioning here that present airline management had submitted its five years business plan to Pakistan government last year wherein it had sought approval for the purchase of 27 new aircrafts to make the airline profitable.

But then government sent the business plan back asking airline management to reassess the same. Sources claimed that said plan has been submitted again after reassessing it and hopefully Pakistan government would approve it.

A PIA senior officer said that as per business plan, PIA management was supposed to increase its revenue and international destinations and planes were to be purchased as per seat factor. Restructuring of the organisation was also part of the business plan for the best utilisation of the manpower of PIA.

Spokesman of the airline said that it was just a proposal to make PIA a profitable organisation. He said that PIA’s current fleet comprised on about 40 planes was not supporting airline to maintain its punctuality since ratio of technical delays is rising day by day. Apart from Boeing 777 and ATR, all other planes were aged and have almost completed their lives.

There was news published in international and national press in 2009 that a PIA’s delegation participating in Paris Air Show in mid June, entered into negotiations with Boeing and Airbus officials for the procurement of 27 new aircrafts.

Hi all

Looks like (PIA) have Listened to what Leeds City Council and all the local neighbours and nimby’s have been saying to LBA's Managerment as they have altered there winter 2010/11 schedule so that the Airbus A310-300 comes into LBA earlier starting from this week..

So it looks like LCC have won this battle now. I wonder what incentive PIA has been given in return though for this change of schedule?

NEW PIA TIMETABLE FOR WINTER

WEDNESDAYS
ISB 13:15 - LBA 16:35 = PK775
LBA 18:15 - ISB 06:50 = PK776

SATURDAYS (Including Christmas day and New Years day.)
ISB 14:00 - LBA 17:20 = PK775
LBA 19:00 - ISB 07:35 = PK776

Nice thought LBAspotter but PIA did the same last winter. I think it's because of the clocks moving backwards.

Yeah they moved it from 18:30 to 17:50 last winter when the closk changed aviador.

But this year they have yet again moved but its even eariler and its for all winter, Not just for one week like last year. As this is until April next year looking at the PIA schedule..

I heard today that Wednesday 17th November the flight is cancelled for religious holiday

Yep is comfirmed BigMac. And the reason why is becasue of Hajj. Some European routes operated by the airlines fleet of Boeing 777's are been replaced by the Airbus A310's due to the fact that the 777's are been used on Pakistan-Hajj charters at the moment.

Hence the Cancelations of some off there services.

LBA has suffered this before in the past. It sometimes seems as though the LBA service is only operated half heartedly!

just to confirm that the flight isnt cancelled due to availability of aircraft but due to low load because of eid, Phase 1 of PIAs hajj operation has been completed whereintending pilgrims have been flown to saudi arabie and during that perid LBIA was unaffected and phase 2 will resume after eid wher the pilgrins will return back to Pakistan and again flights will be unaffected to LBIA

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
