There's been the odd rumour about over the last couple of days suggesting PIA are to operate the 777 into LBA this evening. I have spoken to a number of people today and it would seem the rumour is unfounded this time. It is believed PIA have been told the airports needs four weeks notice for planning. I would imagine this would include increasing the fire cover to Cat 9, additional security and the provision of Boeing 777 tow bar etc.

Well according to Flight Radar it is the ususal AirbusA310, AP-BEG that is currently over Amsterdam and operating the PK775 flight this evening.

Well I have heard that PIA where planning to bring a Boeing 777 into LBA sometime in August. This is still about 4 weeks down the line from now. So hopefully one will appear then.

By the way dose anyone who works up at LBA know if there is already a tow bar on site or if one has been ordered by there handling agent Servisair?

They will be also another give away to if a Boeing 777 is set to appear, As a spare set of Baggage/Cargo pods will have delivered to LBA and the current spare set for the A310 disappear of site. Saying that I wonder if PIA would probably deliver these kinds of things themselves on type’s first visit?

Incidentally the PIA A310 was pretty much bang on time inbound and outbound last night, arriving around 6pm and leaving at 8pm (ish). They really do seem to be much more reliable at the present time. (She says, touching wood!)

Looks like PIA are going on where for a while. As they now have LBA-Islamabad flights on sale up to an until end off May 2012.

All flights still showing to be operated by Airbus A310's though. Hopefully that will change sometime this summer if the planned testing off the Boeing 777-200 all gose well.

today's PIA775 from Islamabad arrived at the airport 15 minutes early than scheduled, which is good to see, but the fact they took off 20 minutes late yet managed to arrive 15 minutes earlier is even better.

15 minutes, but was on stand 5 minutes before 1810. Then they had a major problem as the captain decided to park it a bit too far away from where it should of been. So they were moving it around etc, to fit onto the a/c door etc for 10ish minutes!

I

in relation to your previous comments, the 777 is to make an appearance at the end of July/start of august, the date i am unsure of but will know more neaerer the time, the tow bar is to arrive 1-2 days before the 777's arrived and already loading crates are been transported to LBA and stored in the feight area handling by servisair

Thanks for that Icarus91. Very good news and we will all look forward to more information as to when the 777 will visit LBA. If you are able to inform us, it will save us all having to monitor Flightradar ever Wednesday and Saturday to see what is operating the PK775!

Hopefully as well, as we will be informed a few days before it's arrival we can get prime spots for viewing before local mobs turn up :p

Excellent news! tomleeds you're completely right, I bet it will be buzzing with people on the first flight! Does anyone know for sure that the B777 service will continue immediately after this first flight or will there be a short period of time where the A310 operates?

on another note does anyone know what the pax figures were for june considering some of the flights were only bookable at the last minute hope it hasnt impacted the figures too much

I was told on Saturday that the 777 has now been cleared to operate into LBA. That was from an airport employee on the LBA trade stand at Yeadon Carnival.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
