Which is a Thursday! PIA don't operate to LBA on Thursday's so unless they are going to divert a MAN flight to us, that date cannot be right surely? Perhaps the 27th?

Well noticed Heather. I seem to think he means it will be Wednesday, July 27th for when the first PIA Boeing 777 turns up at LBA. As it's also been posted elsewhere on the internet this afternoon.

Well lets all hope then. I suppose it will not be confirmed until we here something definite from the airport and/or PIA. Something tells me though that it will be at the last minute, by which we will find out from FlightRadar - then it will be a mad dash to the Cemetery if it is the B777 :)

Ive checked the whole flight schedule on the PIA website from 20th july up to 17th august and they all say there are being operated by a A310 aircraft, if they was going to operate it, i would think they put the aircraft type on their schedule that is to operate this route so i can't see it operating during the time people are saying.

Websites are often updated after official confirmation, which has not been received yet from PIA. As others have indicated this will probably be very last minute knowing what PIA are like!

It doesnt really matter if the website says its an A310 and everyone turns up and gets to fly on a 777!
Its bigger, it has more seats so it shouldn't be a problem.

I honestly don't think the airport or PIA will keep quiet when (if) the Boeing 777 comes in on the Islamabad service. It's going to be a huge PR occasion for both Leeds Bradford airport and PIA. Remembering not too long ago one of the airport directors described the Pakistan service as the airports flagship service. It's crucial the airport make the most out of the occasion to ensure the Asian community uses it when (if) the flight happens.

Perhaps though, the airport will tip off the media but say nothing otherwise, to prevent the inevitable mass of people descending on the airport area to see the 777, in the middle of the rush hour too. Times have changed and the area around the airport is less able to cope with thousands of onlookers than it was in the past, particularly with more airport passengers in the vicinity and the usual armies of family that usually accompany passengers using the PIA flight.

So my guess would be that the media will be there, but otherwise nothing will be said publicly until after its all over. Mind you, my guesswork is usually not that great, so take no notice of me!

[offtopic]No, that was a very good post and I hadn't thought about it like that. The rush-hour causes congestion all the way along the A658 from the traffic lights at Murgatroyd's often to the Multiflight turn-off and the airport tunnel.
I do agree then that the airport may want the odd people to know about the B777 visit, but won't want the swarm of people that used to flock for Concorde and the 747's!
Mind you saying that, it wasn't that busy, in comparison to the above, when the first PIA A310 flight arrived and departed so, on the other hand people might not bother to see it, just us enthusiasts - all the better for us! ;)[/offtopic]

looks like pia is erly again arriving at 17.54 thay must be getting better i wounder if thay will take off on time

in relation to the previous comments reguarding the 777's arrival at LBA, i have been informed by a close servisair friend of mine the 777 is to be making an appearance on Wednesday 20th July and they are currently in preparation of it's arrival, he said it is suject to change however it's looking like the 20th.

In accorance with other comments i do reccomend you arrive early as i feel the 777 will draw crowds of public and spotters alike, same senerio as 1986 when F-BSTD made it's first and last appearance at LBA :) lol

I too have been informed by a friend at Servisair that the 777 is due on July 20th, and will be parking either on stand 22 or 24, so I'm thinking the best viewpoint will be from the bottom of the emergency access road which goes off Bayton Lane by the Golf Course, just hope they are landing on Runway 14 that day, then the cemetery will be good

i did hear 27th menstioned however my money is going on the 20th for the 777's arrival, as for the stand im not entirely sure. Rumour has it, it was to go on stand 20 which in turn would mean it would have stands 19 and 21 as well however there is a possibilitie that if it's wet conditions the servis air pushback tugs my not with stand pushing a triple 7 up hill, esspecially if the tugs tyres loose traction going over the painted lines, because you can guarntee the day it arrives the heavens will open and drown the place out, making them very slippy.

Stand 24 accomodates a security cabin used solely to search employees crossing into the resitricted areas i.e. past Alpha2, Bravo, Charlie, Delta3 and november3, therefore because the 777 will need maximum space for it's turn round plus equipment i think they will choose to keep it separate from the security cabin. :dunno:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
