White Heather said:Why would a triple bogey undercarriage tear up the concrete LBAspotter? I am not arguing the point, but just curious. We have had DC10's, L1011's and 747's at LBA in the past which have central undercarriage bogeys and they didn't do any damage. That concrete is pretty hard!
The Wardair 747's turned round on the circle at the Horsforth end and didn't have follow me vehicles either. I would have thought that a 777-200 is shorter than a 747, so why would that be necessary now?
Aviador said:The majority of the taxiway and runway surfaces at Manchester are tarmac not concrete so I doubt LBA would suffer from the same problems as the majority of the surfaces at Leeds are concrete.
Concorde Lover said:Can anyone be so kind to explain all this triple axle bogey and such, i thought i had an idea as to what it was, but now i'm completely clueless.
Also the 200ER landing gear and 300 landing gear look the same to me.
Thanks

The 200/300 gear is the same visually anyway.
A triple axle bogey is simply three pairs of wheels in a row on one gear. The 777 aircraft has 6 wheels on each of the main landing gear with the usual 2 on the forward gear.
737's/A320's single bogey gear (2 wheels each on the main gear)
757's/767's/A330's double bogey gear (4 wheels each on the the main gear)
777's triple bogey gear (6 wheels on the main gear)

Pakistan International Airlines to introduce B777 on Leeds–Bradford route
![]()
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is to introduce a Boeing 777 on direct flights from Leeds Bradford (LBA) to Islamabad from March 13.
PIA said it was introducing the aircraft due to the “high demand from travellers in Bradford and the surrounding Yorkshire region” who want to fly to Pakistan.
The airline will introduce the aircraft on the existing twice weekly LBA schedule on a Wednesday and Saturday, previously served by a A310.
Tony Hallwood, commercial director at LBA, said: “We have been working closely with the local community and businesses to introduce Boeing 777 operations at LBA.
“We are now delighted that we have been able to secure this important PIA flagship service to meet the growing demand.”
Pakistan International Airline’s manager at Leeds Bradford, Muhammad Shafique, added: “This is excellent news for Leeds Bradford and the entire region that we serve, confirming our confidence in LBA’s status as Yorkshire’s premier international gateway for our customers.
“With the upgraded facilities available on the Boeing 777 for both business and leisure travel, alongside a competitive fare, we are confident that more Yorkshire passengers will decide to fly with PIA.”
PIA is the only airline to serve Islamabad from the UK, and also flies from Manchester, Birmingham and London Heathrow.
