TUI are taking action before Jet2. Fair and wise move.
Thanks. We will see what happens over the next few days. Not today….![]()
TUI are clearly not ignoring their Yorkshire customers with todays announcement.
I’m positive we will…. I’m sure the next few days will just wizz by!Thanks. We will see what happens over the next few days.

Purple monster incoming by the sounds of it..
If Wizz come and operate routes not operated by your favourite airline, Ryanair, then it's a good thing. Ryanair are unlikely to operate to the likes of Bucharest, Sofia, Katowice,Kaunas etc. so why not? The more carriers the better. And it will make a change to see your Purple Monster Airbus aircraft on the deck instead of endless 737 types. They can hold and divert for me... and not return.
I agree, it will take a lot to convince me that Tui have any serious interest in LBA.I agree @Sherburnflyer92 This will be a decisive moment for TUI at LBA. This will go one of two ways in my opinion. They admit the error of their ways and re base at LBA or they will ignore LBA and focus solely on Manchester. I fear it will be the latter but if it is it's their loss.
I feel there quickness to announce the flights could be just to make a point they have “won the war” against DSA (in which DSA did claim they’d win), or that there’s more to come than TUI.TUI are clearly not ignoring their Yorkshire customers with todays announcement. I’m shocked LBA was so quick to post on social media! Hopefully their will be more to come. Agreed it does seem underwhelming at the moment but if LBA can prove itself / base / encouraging bookings then hopefully more will come. Tunisia / Egypt / Cape Verde, markets TUI will have to themselves
I would guess that the way the situation has been unfolding at DSA over the last few months, that LBA will have been having discussions with TUI (and most likely Wizz) for some time. To the point that a deal was in place with TUI and therefore an announcement was able to be made quickly.I feel there quickness to announce the flights could be just to make a point they have “won the war” against DSA
Well Tui announced it today too, so clearly a decision was made to jointly announce this, which in view of the uncertainty for TUi passengers is a good thing.I feel there quickness to announce the flights could be just to make a point they have “won the war” against DSA (in which DSA did claim they’d win), or that there’s more to come than TUI.
All just speculation of cause.
'W' legs might suit in the short term - is there the physical space at LBA for further 'based' aircraft???So here’s my overall views on this:
It’s sad when any business is to close and jobs potentially lost, especially in an industry we all care so much about, but as LBA supporters we should be embracing the boost, or potential boost, this can give us.
It’s great to see that TUI are committing more to LBA, however my concern is away based aircraft and W patterns. This could make timings less appealing and based on their past history why they may turn round in 12 months and say LBA just isn’t working. However the plus to this in the short term is that it gives LBA a further 12 months or so to build more stands ahead of a potential base in 2024 and doesn’t put as much pressure on the current bursting terminal. Hopefully that’s the common sense approach both LBA and TUI have agreed on with this deal.
As has been said, if TUI finally realise that LBA is a serious market player, which it is, then the extra operator will help us grow towards that 7mppa target, so a small step in the right direction.
Time will of course tell where this all ends up but for now is a plus for LBA.
I’d of thought they would make room for them if TUI decided to base an aircraft at LBA. It’s worth noting that Flybe stop the Heathrow flights at the end of October meaning there will be no night stopper providing an additional stand.'W' legs might suit in the short term - is there the physical space at LBA for further 'based' aircraft???
