This is a very very late start date for a winter route nearly spring. Had been hoping it was going be a full year round route

I truly do not know what easyJet is smoking here that is going be 3 flights on Saturdays between easyJet and Ryanair for November and December that’s to much capacity on the route. I just can’t see the planes going out very full at all.

Given Ryanair’s increase to this route over the last few years and this winter are planning to operate it 8x weekly (daily, with 2x daily on Saturdays), clearly easyJet sees that the demand is there to get in on the action!

Yes I get that if easyJet had launched this previously it could have worked but I think they are too late now. Looking at the times unless the flights are very cheap people are going pick Ryanair flights anytime the flight times are far better for people on Saturdays.

Lots of expansion elsewhere but reductions so far for Bristol ( jan -feb) looking very sparse . Surely there’s more than a Xmas special to come ?

This is a short season EasyJet Holiday route for the Christmas market, not an attempt to take on Ryanair on seat only.

Looks like Sal has been cut down from 3x a week this winter to just 1x a week and now on a Thursday, Flights from MAN have also been cut from 3x to 2x, not surprised as the loads have been really poor this summer. I wonder how TUI doing on the route?

I imagine that high profile stories about hygiene and food poisoning in Cape Verde are having an effect on bookings.

Looks like the 20th a/c is in operation with 20 arrivals tonight and 20 based deps tomorrow morning.

Also noticed they used a NCL based frame today and yesterday to operate a W in and out. Yesterday was NCL-BRS-FAO-BRS-NCL and today was the same with FCO in place of FAO.

Given the possible takeover of easyJet I wonder how that will affect the Bristol operation . Could it affect the expansion plans , could we see routes/ aircraft reductions etc ? Or will it be business as usual.

I suspect given that BRS is so heavily reliant on EasyJet, that when the PE company start stripping assets, a lot of the marginal routes (Bilbao, Pisa etc) will be first to go. I fear it will hit Bristol hard and can only hope other airlines will see the opportunity and step in. Of course, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Geneva etc will be safe. Hopefully I’m completely wrong but I can’t think of any other occasion where a PE firm has come in and made a positive difference

It would depend on profitability of those routes and yield.

One would imagine a full of all the network will take place.

I’m guessing that as Bristol is the 4 th largest base in the uk that may be an advantage. Smaller bases may be the ones affected first. I have to say that I have flown with EasyJet for over two decades from Bristol and not once has the plane been not been full or near full even in winter ( obviously that doesn’t count for profit )

What evidence is there that Pisa is a marginal route? The route sees the A321 a bit these days so can’t be that marginal. I can think of others that might be a lot more marginal than those examples.

Given EZY have put a 20th a/c in this year you’d like to think the base is doing pretty well on the whole and would be reasonably safe!

Really pleased to see a boost to the two German locations (BER + MUC), didn't expect a frequency increase for MUC.

Now we just need something going to the Frankfurt/Dusseldorf/Cologne area (or Hamburg, but we used to have that and it was discontinued, and I guess it's somewhat covered by the Berlin route once the ICE line re-opens with full line speed and goes back to 1.5h).

What’s concerning is that there is an apparent reduction in frequencies for this coming winter. Apart from Budapest there is a glaring lack of new routes for this winter ( are we the only major base that hasn’t had anything announced yet ( apart from the short Xmas Budapest).

I was thinking the same plus Verona and Zurich aren’t full winter like they were last year

Plus wasn’t AYT full winter season last year

We have Seville and Cape Verde full winter we didn’t have last year well. But it does feel like less.

Not sure how the frequencies for last winter compare would love someone do a table.

I did hear a rumour Strasbourg was going happen from Bristol but that appears to have vanished

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
