Whenever I book a flight I like to 'fly' the route myself.

Just arrived on stand in Malaga :)

A sombre day. I hate to lower the tone but I have tried to find a Flight Sim. thread as I have a query and I hope to get some advice from users.

I have to change my desktop PC since XP no longer functions. I have a Windows 10 desktop ready to take over and was planning on getting X Plane 10 or 11 but I do not have the physical and/or mental stamina get get involved with software engineering. Furthermore the Saitek Yoke and control quadrant is appealing as using a keyboard is problematic for me given significant disabilities.

If any forum simmer's have any advice, I would welcome it before I expend limited funds. I currently use MS FLIGHT SIMULATOR X Deluxe Edition, with World Airports and a PANAVIA TORNADO add-on. This is before XP became unusable.

I tried EBay for unwanted hardware re. Flight deck controls. No luck there but plenty of Herpa 500 models, I await delivery of A380 of Emirates to join my expanding fleet. Thank you folks

BUMP!

Greetings to all with apologies if this ground has been covered.

I am in the market for a desktop fit for purpose of running flightsims and associated peripherals. I looked at retail availability but not up to standard.

Microsoft recommend a 16 gig RAM and DirectX 11 and Win10.

Any thoughts or info on people that can build a platform? Ebay have possibilities as do Amazon but before I commit funds, I would welcome suggestions.

Thank You.

Hi Jenny both Wired2Fire and Chillblast make PC's especially for flight simulation. Before I started building my own PC's, I bought one from Chillblast and have to say I was very impressed (e.g. internal cabling was well routed leaving a clear path for cooling airflow). Whilst both companies websites show a range of products and price ranges, each product can be altered if for example you wished to increase the amount of RAM.
Both companies are also regularly reviewed in PCPilot magazine.

Hope that's of some help.

Kevin

Okay, I have looked at those builders and choked on my supper at the prices. However, armed with gained intelligence, I ventured to the Dell outlet store and found a matching machine and if required, shall upgrade components if performance does not match expectations. Excellent prices as I have two Dell machines, one as reserve ( unused as yet, still boxed ) and excellent value. Just need to find a simulation, xplane or MS.

Many thanks to Kevin for assistance!

Dell will allow you to build your PC to the required spec if you're wanting a cheaper alternative.
