I know anybody can use a VPN ( Virtual Private Network) but it just adds another strike to Barry's account for someone who claims transparency. Why the need to hide yourself Barry, ? Also, for someone who doesn't troll the interest, he knows plenty about the funds available for a potential legal challenge by GALBA and he was privy to that information before it was public knowledge. Barry, you're a troll and you're name is not Barry. You troll the Internet social media and media articles to push your agenda.

Virtual Private Network. Although anybody can use one, they are used to avoid detection. A computer or service provider uses an IP address which gives a rough location of where someone is.

When people join F4A we sometimes check the validity of IP addresses as this can sometimes weed out spammers. We also use what's called Stop Forum Spam where known spammers can be blacklisted. This system works automatically without our involvement and it can weed out many unwanted spam attacks.

An IP address doesn't tell me exactly who someone is, or exactly where they live, but it gives an indication to a person's geographic location.

I'm sure the "authorities" will be able to obtain significantly more information from an IP address than a standard IP checker but VPN effectively gives you a completely random IP address anywhere in the world to avoid detection. Do you think the aforementioned poster is really posting from Bratislava?

Each time you use VPN it gives you a new location. There is no real need for the average Internet user to be using VPN unless you have something to hide. This is my take on IP and VPN. Someone more knowledgeable on the subject will know considerably more about it than I do.

Like most of these anti aviation trolls, he apparently can't see how ludicrous he sounds. It really is a shame he has nothing better to do than write letters to a Yorkshire paper trying to prevent our airport replacing a 56 year old, totally outdated and inadequate terminal, and in so doing guaranteeing many jobs - and then accuse people here, who are local to the airport, of influencing the readers of that paper who expressed support for the airport.

There was no need. The majority (by far) support their airport. They say their bit because like us, they are sick to the back teeth of the Barry's of this world trying to dictate to everyone and push their own personal agendas, using the usual climate change/CO2 excuse.

Aviation will, like all industries, reduce its CO2 output over time, but it remains a vital part of today's world and the only feasible method of transport for most international travel (although Barry, no doubt, would suggest a sailing ship ).

The endless anti aviation agenda from these people is just plain ridiculous given that globally, aviation emits just 2% of CO2 emissions. Of that, the UK emits a very small percentage and LBA, an even lower percentage of the UK output. Meanwhile, we don't hear the Barry's of this world preaching against cruise liners (shipping emitting far more CO2 than aviation), or the use of cement ( another significantly worse industry) or measures to be taken to reduce emissions from the clothing industry (also far worse). They do of course preach that we all have to buy electric cars though. Odd given that the electricity that charges their batteries is generated by the world's worst CO2 emitting industry, electricity generation.

Point this out and they will tell us that this is OK, because the power industry is going green with wind power, wave power, sunlight power and the rest. It will take time but it will get there. Yet all suggestions that aviation will drastically reduce their emissions too, over time, are dismissed.

Talk about double standards. Is it any wonder that the Barry's of this world are labelled as NIMBYs by those who take a more sensible and balanced viewpoint? Those who understand that only a thriving aviation industry will invest in the new technology to drive down emissions. If aircraft sales significantly reduce then so will the funds for the development of new fuel and engine technology.

Shame I didn't see it earlier. The Labour party canvassers for Weetwood Ward just interrupted my lawn restoration project to give me their anti airport views.

Doubt they will call again.

She pointed out Leeds had declared a climate emergency and those naughty aeroplanes emit all that nasty CO2. She had no idea what proportion of world CO2 came from aviation.

No answer to why, in their climate emergency, the city council abandoned plans for a vehicle charging zone even though vehicles are bigger culprits on emissions. Double standards yet again.

She had an answer though when I pointed out that our Labour candidate was anti airport despite her own Labour Council supporting the terminal scheme. She said it was because the Labour Councillors who supported it were from 'other parts of Leeds' and did so because of the jobs the airport brings and the financial value to the city. The obvious conclusion being that the councillors up here are simply pandering to the noisy minority of NIMBYs and have no regard at a for the jobs of their voters or the prosperity of Leeds.

That's Labour, Lib Dem, Green/GALBA all off my list for 6th May.

I wonder just where UK aviation will be by 2035. If the Government are serious about the climate change agenda, then they need to get on with building HS2 and NPR. Fast rail connections to the major airports of Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester could result in less justification to keep smaller regional airports open, and of course take loads of Chelsea Tractors off the motorways.

I also wonder why private pleasure flying hasn’t been mentioned. Should this not be curtailed, discouraged?

Hopefully it won't be as bad as the papers are saying as the Government must listen to the airlines re. Economic recovery post covid. Did you see the hint in that article though about business flights costing more because of these new findings...a possible APD charges increase?

78% would be good too - if the rest of the world was following. We going to be driving around with electrical cars. Brilliant until we have to get rid of the electrical batteries! Then that’s the next problem. I’m up for hybrid cars.

In terms of electric cars ...there's no infrastructure in place on a mass scale to make this work for a sizable number of cars. Infrastructure needs to be in place. For instance, there should be charging points as standard in all new house build. Aviation is always an easy target, sadly.
