it will only possibly come back once a large proportion of long haul routes at LHR become possible again, and/or the slot usage rules are no longer suspended. I think either is at least a few years away.

With the demise of Aer Lingus Regional franchise operator Stobart Air. British Airways Cityflyer are operating the Belfast City - Leeds/Bradford route next week only, all flights operated by using Embrear 190SR aircraft.

Shame BA cannot become more regional. Would love to have them flying the city flyer into LBA on a couple routes; LHR, BHD, DUB (to help feed EI) for starters then some others.

BA Cityflyer have now added a Leeds - Belfast City flight on Wednesday 16th as follows

Yet Loganair seem to be expanding all the time. Just not at Leeds!

That’s if they plan to. Remember they were rumours nothing official as of yet. I would love to see eastern operate the BHD route as they have the chance now, but it’s up to them. And hopefully now they are considering it. But it would be nice to see BA cityflyer operate the route permanently to.

Well there aren't many options these days. If it's Eastern it's vital they use decent sized equipment. A J41 would be ludicrous. It's also vital they are reliable and reasonably priced. I would venture to say that LBA - BHD would be their busiest route if they do it properly.
We know by now that unless Loganairs supposedly LBA loving chief has a change of heart, they ain't interested in LBA, despite the obvious opportunities here.

So who does that leave? Answers on a postage stamp.

The sooner that Emerald get their ATR72s and ramp up with hopefully an early franchise start, and pick this route up (and Dublin) the better. If they do it now there are 12 aircraft available and several don't even need painting into EI livery.

I have to say there are very few airlines ever who manage to quickly expand in a short space of time and make a success of it long term - and that is normally in favourable or benign condition's. Let's revisit this one in 5-10 years time then and see how they are doing.

For me the E190 is the perfect size of aircraft on the Belfast route, and as a bonus it's not an elastic band - an impression that was always FlyBe's problem. And with the backing of BA (CF) it could just work long them. I know it's only temporary at the moment we can dream.
Would be interesting to know what regular pax on the route think of BA's service this week.

Yes it would be a step up from EI. It was standard BACF economy service but without alcohol - so a snack chosen from biscuits, crisps, popcorn, and a drink with tea/coffee, juices, water etc.
