A bit unfair given they just had a £150m project blocked by the Government, and still planning an alternative scheme that won't come cheap either.
It was just a little joke, you no what im like on here! But yes agree the government blocks our eco terminal and then starts looking at ways of improving transport in the north, you could not make it up really!!
Regards apron expansion, the key would be to take out the grassed areas between the apron and the old smaller runway to make it wider so aircraft can park facing outwords towards the runway32/14, but obviously it could not be all the way down as it would infringe the active runway, ils etc

Regarding the triangle section of grass between the runway, parking area and taxiway: I assume only near part nearest to the apron could be used due to the proximity of the runway and instrument equipment?
Basically yes. The areas alongside the old runway 28 can be turned into parking space. They are shown on the Master plan

That's the plan. The Masterplan shows the areas earmarked for parking.

Has there been anymore on the terminal extension. Is there any new renders, or dates when things may commence? I understand that procurement, scheduling and planning takes time, but with the arrival of Wizz, expansion of Ryanair and Jet2 as well as possibility of a route by Play- the need is becoming more urgent and apparent, so one would hope the airport team are all over it.

No news, but the airport team are indeed all over it. I have been told it may start sooner than originally stated but that's not corroborated. The airport said they would present the design to the Consultative Committee when completed but that hasn't happened yet. The next meeting is December. Maybe then.

We will know when it's going to start as the car park yo the East if the terminal will be cleared of cars.

My apologies if this has been posted elsewhere as the a Ilkley Gazette is not usually the leader of top stories but it looks like work has begun.
Looks like the first phase of the internal works on the existing building, but being done now rather than after completion of the extension. I would think the arrival of Wizz will have made this work more crucial and possibly led to it being done earlier than previously intended, because LBA have never mentioned this at even the most recent Consultative Meetings.

Excellent first step in improving facilities, just need now for the go ahead on the terminal extension and we will be all set.

Do we know what the refurbishment plans are iro check in hall B?
Good question we know the belt mechanism had already been upgraded but it would be nice to see the hall have a more permanent look if it's here to stay. There is an outstanding planning application that delt with the external appearance. I don't know if that is still live or whether it's nolonger possible to deliver without a further planning application.

This goes back to a committee meeting in 2017.

  • It was confirmed that the airport have planning approval to carry out works to the White House Lane roundabout and this will be delivered this summer. The roundabout will include a 6m by 5m airport logo in the centre, which will be illuminated. The slides of how it will look were impressive.
Wonder why it didn't happen.

New management, new ideas. Better things to spend their money on?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
