Loganair would be good for building the domestic network up at LBA

Newquay, Southampton, Aberdeen would be routes I’d like to see back on the board.
Its their interline agreements with Oneworld and Skyteam that really interest me. These could really help a CDG and LHR service flourish.

Its time to put any fallout with LBA behind them now. LBA really need to be cultivating them.

I know they couldn't make LBA-GLA work, even having reduced fares. I think there is definitely scope for NQY, ABZ and SOU though. Also LHR with One world interline if they could get slots. Realistically though I do not see any of that happening however much I and the vast majority of you would like it to

Unlike Eastern - where there was a falling-out between the airport management and the airline when the airport impounded a J41 temporarily for non-payment of fees - I don't believe there has ever been a falling out between Loganair and LBA.

It's most likely to be the case that they just don't see any opportunity to make money. The GLA & EDI - LBA routes were quite strongly used by HBOS back in the day but that pretty much collapsed after the banking crisis and trying to keep GLA-LBA skating on thin ice ultimately didn't work. And just because their CEO is from the area originally doesn't mean you'd fly there. I didn't see Alan Joyce when he was running Qantas rushing to start QF services to Dublin!

There are two fundamental issues here - demand isn't what it was because of the corporate market changes, so the likes of LBA-SOU won't attract the same passenger numbers that it did before. The second is that costs of pretty much everything have rocketed - air traffic control fees, ground handling, crew salaries, engineering costs - so you face a position where you have less potential income but much higher costs. You don't need a calculator to see that this doesn't work across a whole host of potential routes where perhaps it once did. It's the same for EMA-GLA/EDI/ABZ, MAN-EXT/SOU, NWI-EDI and many more.

Improved business links are hugely attractive to city leaders as they help cities to attract inward investors. For this reason it isn't always the airport authority business leaders need to be lobbying. Improved road and rail access to the airport will go a long way in making the airport more attractive to airlines as improved links expand the catchment area available to them. LBA isn't the easiest of airports to get to but improved rail access should help to make the airport more viable to potential business operators.

Well LCC/WYCA need to get a move on and get the parkway station moving, especially as LBA pax stats are growing all the time now

Loganair obviously don't think that money can be made on a LBA-LHR service or they would have used the slots they had at LHR instead of moving other London services there.
I'm sure Loganair is a good airline but if LBA is to reestablish a Heathrow connection it surely must be with BA again.

If BA were regularly getting 70+ pax a flight, on two flights a day with an A319 then LM should be able to support higher frequency on an ERJ or ATR, as long as codeshare/interline is in place. But it will still boil down to a combo of slots and is there actually enough money to be made compared to say using those LHR slots for an IOM or LDY service. We are of course biased but JH is astute enough to know either way

It's not just for the airport they need to get a shift on. They really need to get a shift on for the people of cookridge and tbh Yeadon if they drive and there is a car park) as this will provide a decent railway service without the need to visit Horsforth train station. It's only hoped Northern then have the resources to have the service run every 15 minutes Leeds-Harrogate.

Wasn't the plan also to have the 2 hourly LNER Harrogate-London trains stop at the LBA Parkway station too. Which would also open up direct cross city links to Wakefield & Doncaster via Leeds?

Who knows. With regard to the LNER and Northern, if Northern were to get in the way of the LNER services common sense says run the LNER in front of the Northern. By literally minutes or even a 1minute.

There's no reason why LM shouldn't get the same loads as BA but they probably need a similar sized aircraft to make it pay. I think the ATR is too small and doesn't have the passenger appeal. An E190 would fit the bill, but as they haven't got any maybe the reason they aren't keen on operating between LBA and LHR is lack of a suitable aircraft.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
