Can you slot sit for just 6 weeks. Surely to protect a slot you would have to operate for the full IATA season. And is GVA sufficiently slot-constrained that EZY would need to undertake slot sitting? They look to have 14 or 15 aircraft based at GVA, so isn't a much more likely explanation that they have the flexibility to switch between different routes to meet demand. If there is increased demand in Jan/Feb from UK based skiers, and less demand between GVA and say the Southern Med, then it seems entirely logical to me that you would shift things around. Exactly the same reason why the Paris aircraft/slot used to fly LBA/CDG will be used to fly CDG-xxx during July and August.

As for the flight times, well as I mentioned above, GVA is a large base for EZY. Which means every night there are 14 or 15 arrivals as the fleet comes home, and every morning the same number of early departures as it sets out again. On that basis, I would have thought they have considerable experience of customer's appetite to arrive/depart at those times.

Looking at the prices, I don't think they have considerable customer appetite, low fares. excluding the Feb half term as you would expect.

They probably do / most likely do operate that GVA slot for the whole season and switched the end destination to LBA for 6 weeks. To protect your slot / gain historic rights you have to operate 80% of the season 80:20 rule I believe. Hence why I raised my concerns.

GVA Sat / Sun slots are like gold dust so yes, easyJet will need to operate them to protect the historic slots.

easy have on some day 3/4/5/6/7/8/9 flights + a day to the same UK airport giving Skiers the choice and flexibility. LBA is 1 a week with difficult flight times. Again hence my first point of it being a slot sitter and hopefully next year we can have a bigger / better timed program.

Look at other airports, Geneva drops by a huge ammount out of ski season
It does but it is a route that should be doable year round from a conurbation the size of Leeds and Bradford. The appeal of flights from west of the Pennines is weakening year on year for those of us on the east as the M62 and M60 become more choaked and car journey times become longer.

Easyjet have flown from LPL to GVA for donkey's year. In fact longer than to MAN. All of a sudden from a year round route its moved to a winter service . There is clearly a demand all year because its run for so long, but now its not there. Maybe they are using the aircraft on a different route that makes them more money, but it does seem odd.

Looking at the seating plans (Those that choose to pre book seats) the are more pax on the inbound compared to the outbound on tomorrows first EasyJet Swiss flight from/to Geneva

81 inbound
17 outbound

Dose anyone have the actual figures?
Seems no one does. It would be nice to know as 'your' numbers are disappointing to say the least.

Well looking on the Easyjet’s website the new Leeds/Bradford – Geneva route has the following loadings (Pre-booked seats only) so far. The maybe more if some passengers haven't pre-booked a seat. Hopefully these will improve over next few weeks with late bookings.

InboundOutbound

*I'll update each week

From my point of view these are not great figures and could do with a very big boost if we are to retain the service for next winter 2025/26 season.
I also agree the flight timings are not great for a weekly service, so if it dose return next winter it has to be at least with better timings and possibly 3-4x weekly so to offer passengers a better ski break options. I also think they need to do big advertising campaign in our area so all there new LBA routes do well into the future.

I cant imagine the service is viable with these figures. Maybe it's why they stopped Geneva flights several years back. Easyjet did announce GVA very late in the day though so we can't expect too much, even if Easyjet probably do.

It would be interesting to know how Jet2 are doing on this route. It could well be there's some mixing and matching going on, punters flying out on Jet2 and back on Easyjet or vice versa depending on pricing.

Nb. 16th-23rd is half-term week

The timings of the Easyjet Geneva service are not good. Most ski resorts are a good 2-3 hours from Geneva, the late arrival in Geneva will mean an overnight stay at the airport and a transfer the following day, which means missing at least a morning on the snow. The return flight from Geneva is at a good time and allows a mid morning departure from resort. I would suggest a number of people will go out Jet2 and return Easyjet to get the best times or even go out Easyjet from Manchester

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
