No idea to be honest, mostly like code C as most aircraft would be the likes of easyJet/Jet2 or TUI narrowbody’s.

During late spring/early summer Swissport are due to move out so I guess then…
Just how many remotes will be lost with dual taxiway ops? Surely they will have to make up for loss? Only be a handful of widebody remotes left, unless overnights put on Pier C?

I’m looking at the airfield map and I count around 15 in total between the current western apron opposite T2 and the remotes next to the cargo sheds.
I imagine most will be replaced once the cargo sheds are demolished, there will be 13 new stands on pier 2 and 4/5 remotes in the area between pier 2 and pier C.

Pier C will be exclusively easyJet.
Overnight widebody’s, the two jet2 A330’s and 2/3 TUI 787’s, so certainly not a huge amount.

AFAIK when west gate is pushed back and the ops porta cabins are gone, 63,4 and 5 will be pushed back and retained. 925,7 and 9 shouldn’t be affected by the dual taxiway. So is that 8-ish lost medium term?

General question, going back to original T2 phase 2 expansion plan, with remote satellite situated in middle of western apron....Is it true a tunnel was constructed for this when T2 was originally constructed? There was apparently an area earmarked for escalators down to tunnel also?

Depends who you ask. Some say the tunnel was only planned, some say the box was actually built.

The escalators would have been added to the front of the terminal:

Stands 925-929 won’t be affected by the new dual taxiway.

Stand 61 is remaining, 62 is going. 63-65 new code C stands? Not sure if this should be 62-64?
But stands 67-74 are definitely going, along with 82, 235 & 237.

The TAS website has some good airfield maps, but I’ve exceeded my quota on this forum for uploads.

Talking of expansion, some may be interested in the model that hung in Olympic House in the mid 90s. Of note is the T2 terminal building was shown as complete and the escalators to the tunnel were shown despite there being no remote pier.

Very interesting, expanded Western Pier no remote satellite? I so preferred original phase 2 plan, guess too expensive and wouldn't have been too good for traffic flow, push backs onto taxiway etc!

Would have epic if they did it!

I would hazard back then the remote was a phase 3 plan.

I’m not a fan of the current choice of cul de sacs but that’s me.

I wish they just expanded T2 terminal as is now, but expanded Western Pier
to its full extent, that would be similar to number of stands available now on Pier 1. Then a remote satalliate running down middle of Western apron, this would have fulfilled pier 2 and pier 3 stand numbers. Probably more tbh! No loss of remotes in front of cargo shed. Dual taxiway could have run up to pier C threshold, basically concrete over grass between pier B and C!

2 different routes, one for CTA, one for internal domestic.

what's the domestic route? and does it come out at the same international baggage hall? i can't see how there is an internal domestic route from A1-4 all the way to the baggage hall bypassing immigration.

can i ask how you know this btw since it conflicts with information which has been give to someone i know directly from airport managers.

Is Pier 2 still scheduled to open on time? All gates opening?

I don’t think anyone apart from the airport can answer that operationally sensitive question.
All suggestions point to yes at the moment.
There was always going to be a phased opening I believe between April and June.

The airport has posted a few more photos via social media. The equipment for the security channel has been delivered, finishing touches are being added to the floor and ceiling as you exit security, but the expanded retail and food and beverage area looks way off. With the steel work for the expanded amber alehouse still going in.I can see June being a realistic opening date as the airport will have to test a lot of the systems before going live. Same with Pier 2 they will want to test all stands are in full working order.

Pretty sure the legacy terminal was always proposed to open after pier 2. Like you say some areas look much further behind than the more recent pier interiors. Arrival of air bridges will be a good measure of pier progress. Likewise, completion of the BOH lift / stair tower landside on the south east end of the terminal could indicate how far along the shops / restaurants are to opening since they can’t realistically re-stock without it.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
